Acne:
Acne is one of the most common skin concerns in the UK. The acne bacteria normally lives on healthy skin but if normal skin flora is disrupted, bacteria can multiply & contribute to the development of acne. This can be a result of several factors:
✨Excess sebum production by the sebaceous glands
Hair follicles clogged with oil & dead skin cells
Bacteria contaminating & infecting clogged follicles
Hormonal changes or imbalances
Genetic factors
External factors such as pharmaceuticals, smoking, diet, lifestyle & stress! ✨

Menopause is a definite trigger to hormone imbalance and causes breakouts as well as dull, tired & problematic skin conditions!

At L D Skin Therapy there are a few treatments I offer that can help clear & maintain these outbreaks! These treatments will offer remission but maintenance sessions may be required as well as a good at home skin care regime!

CLINICARE Complexion Clearing Facial - £35
A gentle complexion-clearing & anti-inflammatory facial to soothe, re-hydrate & help activate skin rejuvenation. The skin is gently cleansed & the top layer of dead skin cells removed, before an AHA-EGF Skin Booster is applied to boost skin cell regeneration, finishing with a soothing & calming sheet mask with long lasting anti-bacterial & anti-microbial properties.
For best results with problematic skin a course of 4-8 is recommended with atleast a week inbetween treatments! This treatment also includes a 20 minute LED session!

CLINICARE Pure Chemical Peel - £55
This superficial peel stimulates cell renewal & is suitable for treating acne, blackheads, comedones & the improvement of skin texture. It helps keep pores clean & unclogged & has keratolytic, anti-blackhead, anti-inflammatory & antiseptic properties.
For best results a course of 4-6 treatments is recommended leaving 2weeks between treatments!

LED Photon Light Therapy - £25 session
Blue light therapy destroys C.acne’s bacteria, helps reduce activity in the sebaceous glands & has an antibacterial action that can help calm the skin. Red light can also be used in conjunction for an anti-inflammatory action. The treatment can be combined with other treatments such as chemical peels, facials etc.
For an intense course of treatments weekly sessions are recommended for up to 10 weeks if required!

Microneedling & CLINICARE Glow - £80
(Active acne cannot be microneedled)
However, once acne has cleared skin can be left with scarring & post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. By creating microscopic wounds on the surface of the skin, it causes the body to deploy a healing response, stimulating collagen & elastin production.
A course of between 4-8 treatments is recommended for extensive scarring every 4 weeks!

L D Skin Therapy’s medical microneedling is a procedure that uses the C.E marked medical grade ‘Raffine’ microneedling electronic pen device that is of a medical level to the highest quality containing a cartridge of tiny needles to prick the skin. The purpose of the treatment is to generate new collagen, elastin & skin tissue for a smoother, firmer more toned skin.
Medical microneedling is just as effective as ‘ablative treatments’ such as laser resurfacing, dermabrasion& deep chemical peels but is much less invasive & does not require the removal of the epidermis & so healing time is minimal.
