WARRAP MP REPORTEDLY ARRESTED AFTER CRITICISM OF STATE GOVERNOR

Former Warrap State Member of Parliament Hon. Ariech Mayar Ariech was arrested this evening in Kuajok, according to a family member.

Hon. Ariech is known for publicly criticizing the Warrap State Governor and is also reportedly seeking the governorship. He is currently being held at Kuajok Police custody.

The First Lady registered her membership in the Gogrial West County membership registration book.

She also encouraged SPLM members from across South Sudan who are currently in Juba to turn up and register at the SPLM National Secretariat Plaza and she encouraged members in the ground to do the same.

SSPDF Chief of Defence Forces Visits Wau to Oversee Forces Integration

The Chief of Defence Forces of the South Sudan People's Defence Forces (SSPDF), Lt. Gen. Santino Deng Wol, on Saturday led a senior military delegation to Wau, where they were received by the Governor of Western Bahr el Ghazal State, H.E. Maj. Gen. Sharif Daniel Sharif.

Speaking to the media, SSPDF Deputy Director for Information, Col. Garang Ateny, said the visit is aimed at supervising the integration of forces from the SPLM/A-IO and the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) into the SSPDF.

He said the integration is part of the implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement and is intended to strengthen the country's unified national forces ahead of the planned general elections.

Court orders Dr. Machar and co-accused not to wear neckties

The special court has ordered suspended First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar and co-accused persons not to wear neckties during court sessions.

During today’s 100th session, the prosecution team raised concern that some of the accused, particularly Dr. Riek Machar, continued to wear neckties despite a previous court decision that all accused persons should not do so.

In response, the presiding Judge, Dr. James Alala Deng, ordered that the accused persons, including Dr. Machar, should not wear ties.

The judges said the decision was made for security reasons and is within the law.
