A fav concept in yoga I’m teaching right now:

I love to theme my classes, and stick with a theme for around 4 wks so it really has time to sink in for students 💛

Yoga philosophy is beautiful, it’s rich with meaning and has such depth…

✨ Līlā (लीला): Divine Play

Līlā translates as:

“The divine play of the universe.”

The idea that existence is not merely a problem to solve,

a ladder to climb,

or a destination to reach.

It is a dance.

A play.

A cosmic unfolding.

In many yogic traditions, the universe itself is seen as an expression of consciousness exploring itself through infinite forms.

Through sunsets.

oceans.

joy.

heartbreak.

through you. through me.

✨ What if life isn’t happening to you?

What if life is expressing itself through you?

Līlā invites us to hold life a little more lightly.

To stay devoted to our purpose, our practice,

without becoming attached to outcomes.

To play and create. With a smile, with bubbles and sparkles and light…

To explore.

To remember that growth doesn’t always have to feel heavy.

Yoga teaches us discipline.

But Līlā reminds us not to lose our sense of wonder.

Not every moment needs optimising.

Not every chapter needs controlling.

Sometimes the practice is simply being present enough to participate.

To laugh.

To love.

To marvel at a beautiful sunset.

To dance badly in your kitchen.

To follow the quiet pull of what lights you up.

🌊 How to practice Līlā:

- Be curious instead of certain.
- Create without needing perfection.
- Spend time in nature.
- Follow what feels alive.
- Make space for play.
- Trust the unfolding.

Perhaps spiritual awakening isn’t about becoming someone else.

Perhaps it’s remembering that you were always part of the dance.

Save this for the days you take life too seriously 🤍

Love,

Lucy

Do you know why we say “once in a blue moon”?

It’s because of tonight’s full blue moon

That every 2.5-3years occurs in the same calendar month

This is the second full moon we’ve seen in May

A rarity

A treasure

Make time to go outside and enjoy the sky today

We won’t see this moon in May for another few years

Follow for more yoga, science, moon and whimsy content

With love,
Lucy

believe in magic you muggles ✨ Full moon incoming

💕✨🌕

Mays blue moon is here

the second full moon we get to see this May 🥹

the phrase “once in a blue moon” is related to this moon as it only happens in the same calendar month every 2.5-4years!

Why we practice challenging asana:

It’s not to look cool

It’s not for the gram

It’s not for the aesthetic

It’s not to be strong - though having strength and courage and devotion are lessons in themselves…

It’s so we can

sit still

At ease in the body

So we can direct everything inward to discover the wonder within us

Inside us all is deep cosmic creation

Knowing

Bliss

Pure love despite the dark

Embers of past lives

And treasures of quantum biology

Self healing

Epigenetics

Pure wonder

We practice asana so we can sit in easy seated position (sukhsasana) which is ironically the one people avoid and find most difficult

We sit in sukhsasana so we can meditate

So we can find all answers lie within

I am the universe and the universe is me ✨🥹🌀

Lucy

↓ Dhanurasana धनुरासन 🏹

In yogic mythology, the bow is a symbol of

focus, direction, devotion.

Aim.

Like the warrior Arjuna in the Bhagavad Gita,

we are asked to steady the mind, fix our gaze,

and move with purpose.

This pose isn’t just about flexibility.

It’s about aim.

Aiming for something challenging, difficult

and staying devoted to that goal

progressing towards difficult asana shows us we can do hard things

✨ To deepen the posture:

Think of straightening the arms & legs,

Press the feet into the hands to lift the chest.

Let the heart lead the shape.

Breathe into the front body

even when it feels intense… keep breathing haha

If you’re exploring the “flip” or deeper variations:

Move slowly. Warm the spine well.

Open shoulders + hip flexors first.

Let strength support your flexibility.

(I am a huge fan of locust / cobra / spinal waves

to strengthen the posterior chain)

No forcing

pleaseeee listen to your spine - backbends are not one to rush

Only unravelling, a story unfolding

🕊️ A beautiful lens for this pose is Tapas (तपस्)

the yogic principle of disciplined effort and inner fire.

Dhanurasana asks for this.

Not aggression. Not too much pressure.

But steady heat.

Commitment.

Presence inside sensation -

You become both the tension and the release.

The drawing back… and the letting go.

What are you aiming your energy toward?

Love,

Lucy 🤍
