I always wondered why women’s hair in the 60s looked so luscious without hairspray, & I eventually realized the old egg yolk secret.
I actually followed Dr. Paul Saladino's hair advice before making this shampoo & literally cracked an egg on my head lol - my hair looked amazing.
That inspired me to create a vintage egg yolk-style shampoo, but done naturally.
As one of the founders of SunnySoil, this shampoo is deeply personal to me. As a Christian woman, I wanted to take care of the hair God gave me & honor it well for my husband. Scripture says our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), & that a woman’s long hair is her glory (1 Corinthians 11:15).
That stayed with me.
I stayed away from most shampoos for years because I did not want hormone-disrupting ingredients, harsh detergents, or unnecessary chemicals on my scalp.
I wanted something that actually cleaned my hair while still respecting it.
This shampoo removes grease from my hair so well, but without making it feel dry or stripped.
My hair feels soft, fresh, easy to brush, & honestly like it did when I was a young girl.
What stands out most is how detangled it feels. Once the hair is truly clean, smooth, & balanced, the strands do not cling together from buildup or roughness the same way.
They have more slip, more movement, & less resistance when brushing. That is why I actually put my hair up at night - not because it is dry, but because it is so smooth & low-friction that it moves around more easily while I sleep.
My hair has also gotten stronger with my diet changes, & I have noticed such a difference in how healthy, full, & luscious it looks - even after bleaching it blonde as a teenager.
This shampoo helps bring life back into my hair while keeping it clean at a proper pH.
I also love the ingredients we use to cleanse. Coco glucoside & caprylyl/capryl glucoside are gentle surfactants commonly made from plant sugars & coconut-derived fatty alcohols.
They give this shampoo a naturally inspired cleanse without relying on harsher detergent systems.
