Back in 2018 I decided I was going to jump into the aesthetic industry with both feet. I’d tried and failed with a few business ideas before this and had a steady career in the NHS as an Operating Department Practitioner.

But steady has never been for me. I’d rather dive head first into deep water without armbands and figure out how not to drown later.

The early years were rough. I’d work in the NHS by day and try to build the clinic around it, chasing the next booking wherever I could find it.

Then came my attempts at growing the business… ‘attempts’ being the key word.

Almost every penny the clinic earned was reinvested into what I thought would be the magic solution. Trade shows. Ad agencies (more times than I’d like to admit 😅). Social media courses. Thousands spent for almost nothing in return.

Looking back, those mistakes taught me exactly what not to do.

Fast forward to 2022 and I discovered tailored facial rejuvenation. I knew this was the direction I wanted to take.

So I rebranded the entire clinic.

Whilst trying to pay for our wedding… my wife hit the roof 😂

It cost £23,000. Money I didn’t really have. But I knew the brand had to reflect the service I wanted to provide.

Best decision I ever made.

In 2023 Dana joined the team. I trained her up, she loved it… then decided she wasn’t quite ready to leave the NHS and promptly ditched me 🤣 Luckily she’s my sister!

Over the next couple of years everything changed. I finally stopped relying on ad agencies, learnt Meta ads myself and simply started showing people what we do.

Bookings doubled almost overnight. People began travelling from across the country to visit Oriah, which still feels surreal.

Dana came back full time in 2025. Since then we’ve opened new locations, partnered with in the north and watched the business grow beyond anything I imagined.

Today I watched Dana treat patients. I hovered nearby, ready to offer advice… and had nothing to say.

She’s producing work that took me the best part of eight years to learn.

Moments like that make you stop, look through a different lens, and realise just how far you’ve actually come.

In the middle third of the face, the front and side aspects of the cheek held great volume and structure. Adding volume in these areas would simply look alien, if a feature is already outstanding for all the right reasons, there’s no need to add volume.

The nasolabial fat pad was subject to some tissue descent as a result of aging. Here we can soften and make things appear lifted by replacing lost volume in the pyriform fossa and the nasolabial folds.

Moving onto the lower face we can see the formation of relatively progressed jowls. Quite significant pre jowl sulcus and some texture/shadowing in the marionette area. A particularly tricky area to treat in this case as we’re always bound by anatomy. However, adding some structural support into the chin and pre jowl sulcus, along with airbrushing the shadows and texture away in the marionette area, the entire lower face is looking refreshed and elegant once again 🫱🏽‍🫲🏼
