✨ Good day! I'm Ashley, the owner of Foxy Nails by Ashley. ✨

I thought I'd share a little about myself and why I make press-on nails, so you can get to know the person behind the business. 💛

I've loved art for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I always wanted to be as talented as my mom, and luckily I inherited her artistic ability. 🎨

For many years, I never really knew that I was good at art. It wasn't until I chose Art and Design as subjects in Grades 10–12 that I realised my talent. I consistently achieved great results in both subjects, and that's when I started believing in my creativity and talent.

I didn't always know I wanted to become a nail technician. It was only in Grade 12, while thinking about possible careers, that I realised nails would allow me to combine my love for art with helping people feel beautiful and confident. 💅🏻

After school, I didn't immediately follow that dream. My dad really wanted me to get a university degree first, so I did.

Today, I'm a qualified Foundation Phase teacher, and I'm proud to say that I graduated with distinction. Although I realised while studying that teaching wasn't the career for me, I've always believed that if I start something, I finish it, but my heart kept leading me back to nails and art.

Before completing my degree in 2024, I started practising acrylic nails and nail art in my spare time, and I absolutely fell in love with it.

I spent all of 2025 practising and saving up to do my acrylic nail course, and at the beginning of 2026, I finally made that dream come true. In May 2026, I proudly received my Acrylic Sculpture certificate.

Due to personal circumstances, I'm currently unable to offer nail appointments from home. So, while saving up to turn a shed I bought into a beautiful nail room, I decided to make handmade press-on nails, and I honestly couldn't be happier. They allow me to express my creativity, create beautiful designs, and share my passion with others. Every set is handmade by me with love, care, and probably a little too much perfectionism.

My biggest dream at the moment is to grow Foxy Nails into a brand that people know for quality, creativity, and excellent service. 💅✨

🎉 My birthday is in September!

🐾 I'm a proud mom to a beautiful fur baby.

🇿🇦 My home language is Afrikaans.

🎨 Most of my hobbies are creative. I love creating nail art, colouring, painting, drawing, cross-stitching, reading, and spending time with my fur baby.

📚 I'm a true crime fan. I enjoy listening to true crime podcasts while I work.

✨ I'm a bit of a perfectionist. I can spend ages making sure every little detail on a nail set is just right.

🌈 I don't have a favourite colour because I love them all—it's impossible for me to choose just one!

😊 When you first meet me, I can come across as shy, but once I get comfortable, I love talking, and I'm really friendly.

💛 I genuinely love helping people, and one of the things I enjoy most about the nail industry is helping my clients feel beautiful and confident.
