FEEDBACK FROM A PSYCHOLOGICAL COUNSELLOR ON ASHWAGANDHA:
"My absolute favorite product is Ashwagandha...

Alhamdulillah, it has been getting me through post partum with my twins. I can handle my emotions so much better the days I take Ashwagandha.

From what I've noticed with my clients, Ashwagandha adapts to your body's stress response, and your emotions settle after therapy. Compared to anti-depressants, which in the long-term results in emotional blunting."

Ashwagandha is not a universal supplement. It tends to be most useful for people dealing with:
Stress
Burnout
Anxiety
Poor sleep
High cortisol symptoms
Fatigue related to chronic stress
It's not necessarily the right choice for every customer who walks into a health store.

Ashwagandha is well tolerated by many people, but there are some groups who should avoid it or only use it under medical supervision:
Use caution if you have:
1. Hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid)
Ashwagandha can increase thyroid hormone levels in some people.
It may worsen symptoms or interfere with thyroid medication.
2. Autoimmune diseases
Examples: lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
Ashwagandha may stimulate immune activity, which could potentially aggravate some autoimmune conditions.
3. Pregnancy
Generally not recommended during pregnancy due to concerns about uterine stimulation and insufficient safety data.
4. Severe liver disease
Rare cases of liver injury have been reported with ashwagandha supplements, although this appears uncommon.
5. People taking sedative medications
It may enhance the effects of sleeping tablets, anti-anxiety medications, or other sedatives.
6. People taking blood pressure medication
Ashwagandha may lower blood pressure further in some individuals.
7. People taking diabetes medication
It may help lower blood sugar, so monitoring may be needed to avoid excessive drops.

8. It may also not be suitable for:
People with hormone-sensitive conditions unless cleared by their doctor.

Those scheduled for surgery (many practitioners recommend stopping it about 2 weeks beforehand due to its effects on stress response and sedation).

Brain & Cognitive support
Lion’s mane is best known for its potential to support brain function.
Contains compounds (hericenones and erinacines) that may stimulate nerve growth factor (NGF), important for neuron health
May help with memory, focus, and mental clarity
Early studies suggest possible benefits for mild cognitive impairment and age-related decline
Mood & mental health
Some research suggests lion’s mane may help with:
Anxiety and depression symptoms (possibly via anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects)
Improved emotional stability and reduced irritability
The evidence is still emerging, but results are promising.
Nerve regeneration & protection
Lion’s mane is being studied for its ability to:
Support nerve repair and regeneration
Protect against neurodegenerative conditions like Alzheimer's disease (research is preliminary, not a cure)
Immune system support
Contains antioxidants and polysaccharides that may boost immune activity
May help the body respond better to infections and inflammation
Gut health
Traditionally used for digestive support
May help protect the stomach lining and reduce risk of ulcers
Could support a healthier gut microbiome
Blood sugar & heart health
Some animal and early human studies suggest:
Improved blood sugar regulation
Lower cholesterol levels
Reduced inflammation linked to heart disease

Why can beetroot improve memory and energy?
Beetroot is rich in natural nitrates that convert to nitric oxide in the body. This helps widen blood vessels and improves blood flow and oxygen delivery throughout the body, including the brain and muscles.
Better circulation means:
More oxygen reaching the brain=sharper memory and clearer thinking
More oxygen reaching the cells=better energy and less fatigue
For many older people, memory issues and low energy are often linked to reduced circulation, so improving blood flow can make a noticeable difference.
SubhanAllah, sometimes the simplest foods carry powerful benefits.
