It reminded me that caring for the people we love often means giving everything we have but if we never pause to refill our own cup, it's hard to keep showing up with the same strength and compassion.

Today on Founder Friday shares her upbringing, how the tragic socio-political-economic past meant she wasn't supposed to be where she is today.

Not because she wasn't capable. But because, for many people who looked like me, the path simply wasn't there.

She reveals:
"I grew up in a small town where becoming a product formulator and building a wellness brand wasn't a story I saw around me. South Africa's history deliberately limited who had access to education, ownership, scientific careers, manufacturing, capital, and entrepreneurship. That history shaped where many of us began.

Today, when I see JILLIE'S NATURAL on our own e-commerce store, physical store, independent retailers, , , ; , I don't just see bottles.
I see every late night.
Every failed formulation.
Every notebook filled with ideas.
Every moment I chose to keep learning, even when the outcome wasn't guaranteed.
This isn't a story about proving anyone wrong.
It's a story about proving to myself that where you begin doesn't have to define where you finish.
If my journey reminds even one young woman that she belongs in spaces she's never seen herself represented, then every challenge along the way has been worth it.

Because sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is become the example we once needed.
