Invest in health. Check it, don’t guess it

We budget for hair, rent, business stock… but what about the body that runs all of it? When your health fails, every plan stops.

Why invest in health?
1. Energy - Good health = less fatigue. You show up better at work, home, and for your dreams
2. Savings - Prevention costs less than treatment. A scan today can save you surgery tomorrow
3. Confidence - Healthy inside shows outside. Clear skin, strong hair, better posture — you glow differently
4. Time - More healthy years with family and the life you’re building

How to start investing:
1. Daily habits - 2L water, 7-8hrs sleep, 20min walk, add vegetables to meals
2. Routine checks - Blood pressure, blood sugar, eye + dental exams every 6-12 months
3. Radiology check ups - Ultrasound, chest X-ray, mammogram, abdominal scan. These detect silent issues like cysts, stones, or lung changes before you feel pain. Ask your doctor which scan matches your age, gender, and family history. Don’t wait for symptoms.

Your best hair and best life start from the inside. No product can replace prevention.

Drop a comment: “THIS YEAR” if you’re booking your next check up + scan. Let’s normalize early detection

*Deworming: A Small Habit That Protects Big Health*

Parasitic worms are easy to pick up and hard to notice - until they start draining your energy. Deworming is one of the simplest, most overlooked steps for staying healthy.

Why it matters:
- *Better nutrient absorption* – Worms compete with you for food in your gut. Deworming helps your body actually use the nutrients you eat
- *More energy* – Chronic worm infections can cause fatigue, weakness, and low iron
- *Improved growth in kids* – Worms slow physical and mental development. Regular deworming supports healthy growth and school performance
- *Fewer stomach issues* – Helps reduce bloating, diarrhea, and abdominal pain

*Who should do it
In many areas, children and adults at risk get deworming medicine 1-2 times per year. If you walk barefoot, eat raw/undercooked food, or have poor sanitation access, your risk is higher.

*When to do it:
Follow local health guidelines. Don’t self-medicate with the wrong dose - talk to a clinic or healthcare provider about timing and the right medicine for your age.

Clean water, handwashing, and wearing shoes help prevent worms. But deworming closes the gap when exposure happens.

When was the last time you or your family had a deworming check?

What Are “Sick Day Rules” for Your Medication?

“Sick day rules” are simple instructions from your doctor about what to do with your meds when you’re ill – especially if you have vomiting, diarrhea, fever, or can’t eat or drink well.

Why it matters:
Some common medications can hurt your kidneys or drop your blood pressure dangerously low when you’re dehydrated. Others don’t work right if you’re not eating.

Sick day rules usually cover:
Meds to pause: Things like ibuprofen, some blood pressure pills, and certain diabetes medications can stress your kidneys when you’re low on fluids
Meds to keep taking: Insulin and some heart meds often still need to be taken, but doses may change
Hydration: How much to drink without overloading your heart or kidneys
Red flags: When to call your doctor instead of waiting it out

Who needs this?
If you have diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, or take multiple medications, ask your doctor for written sick day rules before you get sick.

It takes 5 minutes at your next visit. Having a plan can prevent a hospital stay.

Worship Is Part of Healing

Healing isn’t just medicine and rest. It’s also turning to God in the middle of the pain.

When you worship, your mind stops racing. Fear gets quiet. You’re reminded you’re not alone in this.

God doesn’t promise a pain-free life, but He promises His presence in it. And sometimes, that presence is what gives strength to get through the next hour, the next day.

If you’re hurting right now, you don’t need perfect words. Be honest with Him. Sit in silence. Play a worship song. Pray “God, help me.”

He sees you. He’s close to the brokenhearted. And He heals — body, mind, and spirit — in His time and His way.
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” – Psalm 147:3

Ever had that sudden, sharp belly pain ?

It could be stones in your abdomen

quick version:

Gallstones – Form in your gallbladder. Trigger sharp upper right belly pain after fatty meals. Most people don’t even know they have them until an ultrasound catches it.
Kidney Stones – Start in your kidneys and can travel down to cause severe flank and groin pain.

Bladder Stones – Form when urine sits too long in the bladder. Cause lower belly pain and trouble urinating.

Warning signs not to ignore:
Severe belly, flank, or groin pain that comes in waves
Nausea, vomiting, blood in urine/stool
Fever + pain = possible infection
Yellow eyes/skin, pale stools

Good news: Most are preventable and treatable.
✅ Drink plenty of water
✅ Cut back on fatty, salty, processed foods
✅ Don’t skip meals
✅ Manage your weight slowly – crash diets can trigger gallstones
✅ Get checked if symptoms keep coming back

Ultrasound and CT scans can spot them fast. Early treatment saves you a lot of pain and complications.

Have you or someone you know dealt with abdominal stones? Drop your experience below 👇 It might help someone else recognize the signs early.

DRINKING MEDICINE ALONE IS NOT ENOUGH

Many of us in Zambia take our tablets faithfully — BP meds, ARVs, diabetes meds, antibiotics — but still get sicker. Why? Because medicine is only one part of healing. Tablets can’t outwork a bad lifestyle.

THINK OF IT LIKE THIS:
Taking medicine while ignoring the cause is like mopping water while the tap is still running. You’ll be mopping forever.

6 THINGS THAT MUST GO WITH YOUR MEDICINE

Take it RIGHT
Finish the dose: Don’t stop antibiotics because you “feel better.” The infection comes back stronger.
Same time daily: BP meds, ARVs, diabetes meds work best with routine. Set a phone alarm.
With/without food: Some meds need an empty stomach, others need food. Ask the nurse.
Don’t share: Your cousin’s BP meds are not your BP meds. Doses are different.

Change the habits that caused it
High BP meds + too much salt = You’ll still stroke. Cut salt, stock cubes, processed meat.
Diabetes meds + fizzy drinks = Sugar stays high. Drink water.
ARVs + alcohol = Liver damage, meds stop working.
Ulcers meds + stress & no food = Ulcers keep coming back.

Go for check-ups
Medicine needs monitoring. BP meds need kidney tests. Diabetes meds need eye and foot checks. ARVs need viral load tests. If you don’t check, you don’t know if it’s working or harming you.

Eat to heal
Food is medicine too.
BP: More beans, bananas, leafy greens for potassium.
Anemia: Kapenta, liver, beans, dark greens with orange/lemon to absorb iron.
Diabetes: Small portions, more vegetables, less nshima and sugar.
Skipping meals then taking strong meds = ulcers and collapse.

Move your body
Exercise makes BP meds, diabetes meds, and depression meds work better. 30 min walk daily helps your tablets do their job. Lying in bed all day slows healing.

Rest & reduce stress
Stress raises BP, sugar, and stomach acid. No tablet can cancel 24/7 worry. Sleep 7-8 hours. Pray, talk to someone, breathe. Peace is medicine too.

HOW RADIOGRAPHERS HELP BEYOND MEDICINE
Sometimes tablets aren’t fixing it because the diagnosis was wrong.
Still coughing after TB meds? Chest X-ray checks if it’s TB, pneumonia, or something else.
BP still high on 3 meds? Kidney ultrasound checks if kidneys are the problem.
Scans give answers so your medicine can be correct.

HARD TRUTH:
If your doctor says “lose weight, stop drinking, eat vegetables” and you only take the tablets — don’t blame the tablets when you don’t get better.

Medicine helps your body fight. You have to help your body too.

Taking meds right now? Ask yourself: What one habit can I change this week to help my tablets work?

LET’S TALK ABOUT INFERTILITY

1 in 6 couples worldwide struggle to have a baby. In Zambia, many suffer in silence because of shame and blame. It’s time we changed that.

WHAT IS INFERTILITY?
If a couple has unprotected s*x for *1 year* with no pregnancy, doctors call it infertility. If the woman is *over 35*, seek help after *6 months*. It is a medical condition, not a curse or punishment.

IT TAKES TWO PEOPLE
Infertility is not just a “woman’s problem.”
- *40%* female factors
- *40%* male factors
- *20%* both partners or unexplained

Both husband and wife must be tested. A semen analysis for men is simple, painless, and very important.

COMMON CAUSES

For women:
1. *Ovulation problems*: Not releasing an egg each month. PCOS, thyroid issues, very high/low weight.
2. *Blocked fallopian tubes*: From past infections, STIs, or surgery.
3. *Womb issues*: Fibroids, polyps, scar tissue.
4. *Age*: Fertility drops after 35.

For men:
1. *S***m problems*: Low count, poor movement, abnormal shape.
2. *Blockages or hormones*: S***m can’t get out properly.
3. *Lifestyle*: Smoking, alcohol, drugs, excess heat.

HOW RADIOGRAPHERS HELP YOU GET ANSWERS
Radiographers are the health workers who do your scans and X-rays. For infertility, they help by:
1. *Ultrasound scans*: Check the womb for fibroids, polyps, or scar tissue. Check ovaries for cysts or signs of ovulation. This test uses sound waves — no radiation, no pain.
2. *HSG test*: A special X-ray where dye is put in the womb to see if your fallopian tubes are open or blocked. This is a key test because blocked tubes stop egg and s***m from meeting.
3. *Scans for men*: Ultrasound can check the testicles for blockages or varicoceles that affect s***m.

Radiographers work with your doctor to give clear pictures of what’s happening inside. No guessing, just facts.

WHAT TO DO NEXT
1. *See a doctor together*: Visit the gynecology or family planning clinic at your nearest government or private hospital.
2. *Basic tests*: Blood tests for hormones, ultrasound, HSG for women. Semen analysis for men.
3. *Know your cycle*: Regular periods every 26–35 days are a good sign.
4. *Avoid “quick fixes”*: Don’t waste years on herbs or rituals before you know the real cause. Many issues have treatment.

*PLEASE REMEMBER*

- *ask for help*. The real loss is staying silent when doctors can help.
