💭 REFLECTION
Today, Jesus reminds us that loving God must be shown through love and compassion for others. The Good Samaritan did not simply see someone suffering—he stopped, cared, and helped. True faith calls us to do the same.
🙏 PRAYER
Lord Jesus, give us compassionate hearts. Help us to love You wholeheartedly and to recognize those who need our kindness, mercy, and help. May we not only hear Your Word but put it into action. Amen.

Today, we have gathered with mixed feelings in our hearts. On one hand, we are happy and grateful for the time we have shared with our dear Fr. Palangwa, but on the other hand, it is difficult to say goodbye to someone who has become such an important part of our parish family.
When Fr. Palangwa first came among us, perhaps none of us knew how deeply he would touch our lives. With his presence, his words, his prayers, and his service, he slowly became more than just our priest. He became a friend, a father, a counsellor, and a shepherd to many of us.
We remember the Masses he celebrated, the homilies that challenged and encouraged us, the moments he listened to our problems, and the occasions when he shared our happiness and our difficulties. Through all these moments, Fr. Palangwa reminded us of the importance of faith, love, unity, and service.
There were times when he corrected us, and perhaps we did not always agree with him. There were times when he challenged us to do better. But today, we understand that all these things came from a heart that wanted to see us grow spiritually and become better Christians.
Father, you have planted many seeds among us. Some of those seeds may already be growing, while others will take time. But we promise that we will continue nurturing them through prayer, unity, and service.
As you leave us, we want you to know that your footsteps will remain here. Your memories will remain in our hearts, your teachings will remain in our minds, and your prayers will continue to inspire us.
Farewell does not mean that we are forgetting you. It simply means that your mission is continuing somewhere else. Wherever you go, may you continue to be the light that guides God's people.
On behalf of the entire parish community, we say thank you, Fr. Palangwa, for your love, your sacrifice, your patience, your guidance, and your service to us.
We pray that God will walk with you in your next assignment. May He give you strength when the journey becomes difficult, wisdom when you have important decisions to make, and joy as you continue serving His people.
Father, as we celebrate this reception today, let us not focus only on the sadness of saying goodbye. Let us celebrate the beautiful memories you have given us and the lives you have touched.
You came to us as a priest, but you leave us as a member of our family.

FR PALANGWA BIDS EMOTIONAL FAREWELL TO HOLY TRINITY PARISH AFTER THREE YEARS.
BY Passy Haachizo & Epifano Moyo Diego JR III /HOLY TRINITY PARISH MEDIA TEAM 📸
WHAT was meant to be a farewell Mass for Fr Everisto Palangwa at Holy Trinity Parish turned into an extraordinary outpouring of love, gratitude and emotion as hundreds of parishioners gathered to bid farewell to the priest who has served as Assistant Parish Priest at Holy Trinity Railway Parish for three years before his transfer to St. John Vianney, Mondake Parish.
For the three Masses held on October 4, 2026, to mark his departure, the car park was flooded with vehicles, while the grounds outside the church were equally packed with parishioners.
Seats became a precious commodity as people struggled to find somewhere to sit, with some standing while others sat wherever they could.
The remarkable turnout gave the occasion the atmosphere of a major public farewell—as though the parish had gathered to witness the final send-off of a prominent politician or a man who had become famous in his lifetime.
But this was not a political gathering.
It was a parish family coming together to say goodbye to a priest who, during his three years as Assistant Parish Priest at Holy Trinity Railway Parish, had become part of the community's life.
The emotion was unmistakable.
The choir sang with such tenderness and intensity that, at moments, it seemed as though the singers were not simply leading the congregation in worship, but paying the last respects to a man whose presence had left an indelible mark on the community.
Every hymn seemed to carry the weight of farewell.
The proceedings began with the readings, followed by the Gospel according to Matthew 21:33–43, which recounts the Parable of the Tenants, before St Joseph, Ngungu Parish Administrator Fr Andrew Phiri, delivered the homily.
In the Gospel, Jesus tells of a landowner who entrusted his vineyard to tenants, only for them to mistreat and kill the servants sent to collect what was due to him. When the landowner finally sent his son, the tenants also killed him.
Fr Phiri used the Gospel to remind the congregation that life presents people with opportunities to do good, serve God, help others, and reconcile with one another.
He warned the faithful against living as though they would always have another opportunity.
“Let us take advantage of every opportunity that we are given. Where we need to do good, let us do good; where we need to help, let us help,” Fr Phiri said.
He urged parishioners to stop taking one another for granted, saying individuals needed to make use of every opportunity to show love and kindness while they still had time.
Fr Phiri also challenged the congregation to abandon hatred, bad-mouthing and unnecessary quarrels, reminding them that life was too short for people to remain divided.
Turning to the departure of Fr Palangwa from Holy Trinity Parish, Fr Phiri said priests were called to move from one community to another in service of God.
“Fr Palangwa, his time has come to leave, and I am sure he has done his homework at this parish. Let him also leave room for others. Priests just come and go,” Fr Phiri said.
He commended Fr Palangwa for the three years he had spent at Holy Trinity Parish and urged the congregants to ensure that the good work continued even after his departure.
For Fr Palangwa, however, the occasion was deeply emotional.
He said Fr Phiri's presence had made the farewell even more meaningful because the two priests shared a long history dating back to their school days and priestly formation.
“It is not an easy day. It has just touched me. It has reminded me that I am going,” Fr Palangwa said.
He disclosed that he and Fr Phiri completed Grade 12 in the same year and later spent eight years together in priestly formation.
Fr Palangwa thanked Fr Phiri for coming to celebrate Mass with him at Holy Trinity Parish, saying his presence had helped rekindle a new fire among the parishioners.
Looking back on his three years at Holy Trinity Parish, Fr Palangwa recalled celebrating Mass at the altar, baptising children, visiting the sick and accompanying parishioners during both difficult and joyful moments.
“For the past three years, I have been at this altar celebrating Mass. I have baptised your children, I have visited the sick, I have been with you in difficult and good times, and I have seen youths trying to find a sense of direction,” he said.
Fr Palangwa said Holy Trinity Parish was no longer simply a place where he had been assigned to serve but a community that had become part of his life.
“I did not come to serve but you also served me,” he said.
“I did not just serve you, but you also served me. You stood for me in good and bad times. You taught me that the Church is built by women and men, by the Holy Childhood and by everyone who gives themselves to the work of God.”
One of the most touching moments came when the Holy Childhood presented Fr Palangwa with a gift.
The gesture visibly moved the departing priest and captured the affection that had grown between him and the children during his three years at Holy Trinity Parish.
For a priest who had baptised children, celebrated with families and watched young parishioners grow in faith, the gift carried a meaning far greater than the item itself.
It was a simple but powerful message from the children: thank you, Father, we will remember you.
Fr Palangwa said that although he had arrived at Holy Trinity Parish with his own ideas and a strong desire to serve God through priesthood, the parishioners had also shaped and supported him.
He explained that priestly ministry was never a one-way relationship because while he had shared his faith with the people, they had equally shared their faith with him.
As he prepared to leave Holy Trinity Railway Parish for his new assignment at St. John Vianney, Mondake Parish, Fr Palangwa urged the parishioners to embrace the priest who would take over from him and give him the same support and love they had given him.
He said he would remain around for about a week before finally leaving for Mondake.
The priest then made one of his most personal appeals of the day—asking for forgiveness from anyone he may have hurt, failed to help or disappointed during his three years at Holy Trinity Parish.
“In case I did not help someone, in case I hurt somebody, in case I did not do what I was supposed to do, find space to forgive me,” he said.
He also asked the parishioners to continue praying for him as he begins his new assignment at St. John Vianney, Mondake Parish.
With the choir singing, the Holy Childhood presenting its gift and parishioners gathered in numbers rarely seen at an ordinary Mass, the farewell carried the feeling of the closing of a significant chapter.
Fr Palangwa came to Holy Trinity Railway Parish three years ago as an Assistant Parish Priest with an assignment.
He leaves for St. John Vianney, Mondake Parish, with something more—a community of people who, in his own words, did not merely receive his service but also served him.
And as the emotional farewell drew to a close, Fr Palangwa delivered his final sign-off:
“From this moment, I sign off from Holy Trinity, and I am going to log in at Mondake.”
