Every Thursday, I dedicate my time to meeting and engaging with the wonderful people of Chongwe.

During my campaigns, I had the privilege of visiting communities, meeting residents in their homes, on the streets and at various gatherings. Those moments reminded me that leadership is about being close to the people and understanding their everyday concerns.

Now, as your Mayor, I believe that same spirit of openness, accessibility and service must continue.

That is why every Thursday, from 07:00 to 17:00, I welcome you to my office, with or without an appointment.

Whether you have a concern, a suggestion, a community development idea or simply wish to have a conversation with me, my doors are open.

You matter. Your voice matters. Your concerns matter.

I believe that every resident deserves an opportunity to be heard, regardless of their status or background.

Together, through open dialogue and meaningful engagement, we can build the Chongwe we all want to see.

This is your opportunity. This is your day. Come and meet your Mayor!

❀️ MAYOR SASHI JOINS NATIONAL HEART HOSPITAL IN COMMEMORATING 5TH ANNIVERSARY AND WORLD HEART DAY

Chongwe | Tuesday, 29 September 2026

Today, I had the honour of joining the National Heart Hospital (NHH) in commemorating its 5th Anniversary alongside World Heart Day, celebrated under the theme β€œDon’t Miss a Beat.”

The occasion provided an important opportunity to reflect on the vital work being done to provide specialised cardiac care to people across Zambia.

I was encouraged by the Government’s continued commitment to strengthening cardiac services, including plans to establish a stand-alone Children’s Heart Centre at the National Heart Hospital. This will be an important step towards expanding access to specialised heart care for children.

I also appreciated hearing testimonies from heart disease survivors, whose experiences reminded us of the importance of early diagnosis, awareness, prevention and access to quality healthcare.

As Chongwe Mayor, I believe that a healthy community is the foundation of meaningful development. We must continue supporting initiatives that promote healthy living and improve access to essential healthcare services.

My appreciation goes to the National Heart Hospital, the Ministry of Health, medical personnel, partners and all stakeholders for their dedication to saving lives and improving cardiac care in Zambia.

❀️ Let us take care of our hearts and remember: Don’t Miss a Beat.

MAYOR SASHI ATTENDS DANTHO TRADITIONAL CEREMONY IN LUANGWA

Yesterday, Saturday, 26 September 2026, I had the honour of joining traditional leaders, Government representatives, community leaders and fellow citizens at the annual Dantho Traditional Ceremony of the Chikunda-speaking people of Luangwa District, held at His Royal Highness Chief Mphuka’s Palace.

The ceremony was held under the theme β€œDantho: Our Culture, Our Unity, Our Future.”

It was a beautiful celebration of our rich cultural heritage, bringing people together through traditional dances, cultural performances and various activities that showcased the values and traditions of the Chikunda people.

I was honoured to join the Guest of Honour, Lusaka Province Permanent Secretary Eng. Joe Kalusa, traditional leaders and other dignitaries in celebrating this important cultural occasion.

As leaders, we have a responsibility to support the preservation of our culture and ensure that our traditions and values are passed on to future generations.

Culture unites us, gives us our identity and reminds us of where we come from as we work together towards a better future.

May our traditions continue to unite us.

KEEPING MWALUBEMBA MARKET CLEAN, GREEN AND HEALTHY

Today, I had the privilege of leading Chongwe Municipal Council workers in a Keep Zambia Clean, Green and Healthy exercise at Mwalubemba Market in Chinkuli Ward.

Together with our council workers, Chinkuli Ward Councillor Hon. Moses Banda and the Public Health Department, we cleaned the market and engaged traders on the importance of maintaining a clean, safe and healthy trading environment.

As a Council, our responsibility is not only to provide services but also to work closely with our communities. I therefore encouraged all traders to take ownership of the cleanliness of their market and trading spaces. A clean market protects public health and creates a better environment for both traders and customers.

I also encouraged traders to comply with Council requirements, including obtaining the necessary trading licences. We want to work with our traders to ensure that everyone understands and meets these requirements.

As we approach a period when the risk of cholera and other waterborne diseases can increase, cleanliness and good hygiene must remain everyone's responsibility.

I appreciate Councillor Moses Banda, our council workers, the Public Health Department and, most importantly, the traders for their cooperation.

People First. Service First. A Cleaner Chongwe for Everyone.

TODAY I CHECKED ON OUR FARMERS AT FRA DEPOTS IN CHONGWE

24 September 2026 | Chongwe

Today, I took time to visit selected Food Reserve Agency (FRA) maize purchasing depots in Kampekete, Chilyabale, Mwalumina, Mulalika and Lwimba to engage directly with our farmers and understand the challenges they are facing during the ongoing maize marketing season.

I interacted with farmers and depot officials and received first-hand updates on the progress of maize purchasing.

Some of the concerns raised included the availability and timely distribution of empty bags, congestion at some depots and the need to improve coordination so that our farmers can be served efficiently and spend less time waiting.

I was encouraged to see that additional bags had already been supplied at the depots, while further requirements were identified to support the ongoing exercise.

I have taken note of the concerns raised by our farmers and will engage the relevant authorities so that these matters receive the necessary attention.

To the farmers of Chongwe, I hear you, I see you and I will continue to stand with you. Your contribution to our economy and the food security of our country is important.

Some farmers described my visit as a fatherly gesture and appreciated the opportunity to speak directly with their Mayor. For me, leadership is about being present, listening to the people and taking action where possible.

People First. Service to the People. A Better Chongwe.

May God continue to bless our farmers and the people of Chongwe.

STEPS TO TAKE WHEN APPLYING FOR CDF GRANT 2027

Step 1: Form and Register Your Group

Get together at least 10 people who live in your constituency. Form a club, cooperative, or organised group.
Register the group properly:

- Clubs can register with the local council or under the Societies Act.

- Cooperatives register with the Registrar of Cooperatives.

Write a simple constitution (rules of the group).

Open a bank account or mobile money wallet in the name of the group.

Collect copies of every member’s National Registration Card (NRC) and keep signed minutes of your meetings.

Step 2: Plan a Good Project
Decide what work your group will do with the money.
The work must be done inside your constituency.
Write a plan that shows:
- What you will do
- How much money you need
- How the project will create jobs or help members earn money
- How the project will continue after the grant is finished

The money is given only once as seed money to help the group start.

Step 3: Get and Fill the Application Form
Go to the local council office, the Member of Parliament’s constituency office, or your Ward Development Committee (WDC) and collect the free application form.

Fill it carefully by hand or type it.
The chairperson of your Ward Development Committee must sign and stamp the form.
Attach all the important papers:
- Registration certificate
- Group constitution
- Proof of bank account or mobile wallet
- Copies of members’ NRCs
- Signed meeting minutes

Step 4: Submit the Form to the Ward Development Committee
Take the completed form and all attached papers to the chairperson of your Ward Development Committee.
The Ward Development Committee will check the application and decide whether to recommend it.
Only applications that the Ward Development Committee has signed and recommended will be sent forward for further consideration.
Applications without the Ward Development Committee’s signature are not accepted.

These four steps are the starting point. After this, the application moves to higher committees for checking and possible approval. Always ask your local Ward Development Committee or council office for the current forms and exact dates.
