This nutrient-rich blue-green algae contains naturally occurring antioxidants, amino acids and pigments such as phycocyanin and chlorophyll. In skincare, these compounds are valued for their potential to support the skin, help soothe dryness and provide antioxidant protection against environmental stress.

For us, it’s another example of an ingredient that brings both function and character — naturally.

Alkanet Root Powder is more than the ingredient that gives our RAW + Lavender its naturally deep, earthy colour.

Derived from the root of the Alkanna tinctoria plant, Alkanet has a long history of traditional use in botanical preparations and skincare. Its naturally occurring compounds are valued for their potential soothing and antioxidant properties, making it an interesting ingredient beyond its role as a natural colourant.

In our soap, it brings both character and purpose — while creating shades that can naturally vary from muted purple and burgundy to deep grey from one batch to another.

Paired with pure Lavender Essential Oil and our Beef Tallow-based soap formulation.

RAW + Patchouli

That deep black? Activated charcoal.

Our RAW + Patchouli gets its distinctive color naturally from Activated Charcoal, and it isn't there just for looks.

Activated charcoal is highly porous and valued for its ability to bind to oils and impurities. In soap, it adds a naturally cleansing element while giving the bar its unmistakable dark character.

Paired with pure Patchouli Essential Oil, the result is earthy, grounding and distinctly different from our original RAW.

RAW + Lavender

A darker take on lavender.

The deep, earthy color of our RAW + Lavender bar comes naturally from Alkanet Root Powder. No synthetic dyes, no artificial colorants.

Alkanet root has been traditionally used as a botanical colourant for centuries, creating shades that can range from muted purple and burgundy to deep grey depending on the formulation.

Paired with pure Lavender Essential Oil, it gives this bar its own character while staying true to the same foundation that started The Tallow Bias:
