Considering starting an apprenticeship? Read this.

An apprenticeship can start as early as high school. You don’t need to be finished school, and you don’t necessarily need to drop out either. Depending on where you start, it can sometimes be more flexible than you’d think.

The greatest part about an apprenticeship? AI can’t take your service based trade. Not yet, anyways. And I don’t think anyone’s gonna prefer a robot doing their hair over the fun, personalised experience that going to a salon brings.

Perfect if you’re keen to get your foot in the door in hairdressing, or you’re a high schooler local to the area who reckons a salon environment is where you belong. This could lead into a full apprenticeship for the right person.

You’ll need solid communication skills and good presentation. And a non-negotiable: come to your interview with your hair and makeup done. In this industry, how you present yourself is part of the job.
