Did you know the supplements and vitamins you grab off the chemist shelf could be wasting your time… and your money?
Not all supplements are created equal.
The quality of ingredients, how they’re formulated, and whether your body can actually absorb them all play a huge role in whether they’re doing what you think they are.
When it comes to supporting brain health, concussion recovery, inflammation, or overall wellbeing, taking the right supplement is just as important as taking one at all.
As a naturopath, I take the guesswork out of supplementation by recommending evidence-informed, practitioner-only products that are selected specifically for your individual needs.
Because more isn’t always better… but the right support can make all the difference.
Are the supplements in your cupboard actually working for you?
Book a consultation and let’s create a plan that’s tailored to your body, your health goals, and your recovery.

Can I access naturopathic post-concussion care if I live in a rural or remote area?
The short answer is yes.
Many people assume that specialised concussion support is only available in major cities, but telehealth appointments have made it possible to access post-concussion care from almost anywhere in Australia.
At The Concussion Naturopath, consultations can be delivered online, allowing us to explore the factors that may be influencing your recovery, including:
• Persistent symptoms such as headaches, fatigue and brain fog
• The connection between gut health and brain health
• Nervous system regulation and stress
• Nutrition and lifestyle factors that support healing
• Strategies to help you return to everyday activities
Concussion recovery isn’t always as simple as “rest and wait”. For some people, symptoms can persist long after the initial injury, and having the right support can make all the difference.
No matter where you live, you deserve access to care that helps you better understand your symptoms and supports your recovery journey.

100,000 people.
That’s roughly the capacity of the MCG. A huge number, right?
Now imagine every seat filled by someone who has experienced a head injury or concussion through sport. That’s how many Australians sustain a concussion or head injury each year.
And the reality? Many of these injuries go undiagnosed, unsupported, or are simply told to “rest it off”.
But concussion recovery is about so much more than rest.
A concussion triggers a complex cascade of changes throughout the brain and body, and without the right support, symptoms can linger long after the initial injury.
The good news? There is a better way.
With the right education, support, and treatment, recovery doesn’t have to be left to chance.
If you or someone you love is struggling after a concussion or head injury, know that help is available.

What are effective natural treatments for post-concussion syndrome? — The Concussion Naturopath Natural treatments for post-concussion syndrome include targeted herbal medicine, nutritional protocols, gut-brain axis support and dietary intervention. Evidence-grounded naturopathic care, Australia-wide.
One of my clients asked me recently, ‘Louise, do the AFL, the NRL and other sporting organisations know about this gut stuff?’
If they haven’t heard of me yet, hi - I’m Louise, The Concussion Naturopath. 👋
The short answer? We’re only just beginning to understand how deeply connected the gut and the brain really are.
When it comes to concussion recovery, the conversation has traditionally focused on rest, scans and symptom management. But emerging research is shining a light on the gut-brain connection and the role gut health may play in inflammation, healing and recovery following a head injury.
Elite sporting clubs have entire teams dedicated to performance and rehabilitation, yet there is still so much to learn about how nutrition and gut health can support athletes after concussion.
The gut and brain are in constant communication, and supporting one may have a profound impact on the other.
The future of concussion care isn’t about replacing existing treatments; it’s about broadening the conversation and exploring every avenue that could improve outcomes.

What’s the difference between a concussion and a contusion of the brain?
Although they’re often talked about together, they’re not the same thing.
A brain contusion involves visible bruising or bleeding on the brain tissue and can usually be seen on imaging scans.
A concussion, on the other hand, doesn’t typically cause visible structural damage. Instead, it triggers a complex metabolic cascade within the brain, affecting how brain cells function and communicate.
Just because a concussion can’t always be seen on a scan doesn’t mean it isn’t serious. Symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, fatigue, brain fog and sensitivity to light or sound can have a significant impact on daily life.
Understanding the difference is an important step towards proper care and recovery. And I’m here to help.
