Boston Marathon 2012. 32°C. Learned the hard way. 🥵

I was cramping, struggling and a long way from enjoying myself!

Looking back, I knew a lot about training, but much less about my own sweat losses and what I should be replacing in the heat.

These days, I know my sweat sodium concentration, sweat rate and how much sodium I can lose during exercise. Back then, I replaced nothing.

With summer and pre-season training approaching, it’s worth understanding that we all respond differently to the heat.

At The Movement Co. Bendigo, we offer VO₂ testing and sweat sodium testing to help people better understand their physiology and make more informed decisions about training and race-day preparation.

You can’t control the conditions, but you can be better prepared for them.

NBL Blitz.
A great couple of days working with the Adelaide 36ers at the NBL Blitz in Bendigo.

Always a privilege to work with athletes at this level. 🏀

Great progress from one of our Melbourne Marathon package athletes.

By testing his VO2 at the start of his marathon prep we were able to accurately determine his training paces and zones.

Recent retesting results speak for themselves. He is now running faster at the same physiological effort. Great signs for the marathon in October.
