Adaptogenic means adapting to what my skin needs rather than treating skin as something static.

I know I said “skin is static” in one of my earlier videos. There is actually a more accurate way to think about it.

Skin is dynamic. It is constantly responding, adapting and communicating with its environment.

Even the familiar “bricks and mortar” explanation of the skin barrier is now considered an oversimplification of a much more complex, organised and responsive structure.

I’ll unpack that soon. So stay tuned🤔

For now, I’m letting this adaptogenic mask do what it is designed to do: work with my skin, not simply sit on top of it.

The expertise is everything that happened before the result. Skin therapy begins when you learn to read the skin.

Texture isn’t simply something to exfoliate. Pigmentation isn’t simply something to “brighten.” Dehydration isn’t simply a reason to apply more moisturiser. A hot, reactive, flaky skin surface isn’t necessarily asking for another active treatment.

You might be dehydrated one month, congested the next, a little sensitive, maybe your barrier isn’t happy…

So I don’t just look at your booking and think, ‘Okay, she’s having that facial today.’

I actually look at your skin.

And then I decide what I think it needs.

Sometimes we’ll exfoliate.
Sometimes we’ll use LED.
Sometimes we’ll do something a little more corrective.

For me, it’s about understanding your skin and making the right decision for it on that particular day.
