When the UV is 3 or above, make sure you are using a water-resistant SPF50 or SPF50+ sunscreen.
It’s important to get to know your skin. If you notice any changes in the size, shape or colour of an existing spot, or the development of a new spot, you should get it checked by a professional as soon as possible.

Incidental sun exposure adds up.
That’s why it’s important to protect your skin when you’re out and about to reduce your risk of developing skin cancer.
Remember to: Slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen, slap on a hat, seek shade and slide on sunnies.

Around 500,000 Australians have a common non-melanoma skin cancer surgically removed each year.
New data from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) shows that around 2% of Australians have a common non-melanoma skin cancer surgically removed each year. Common non-melanoma skin cancer is estimated to be up to three times as common as all other cancers combined.
Rates are higher among men, older Australians and people living in regional areas.
Being aware of changes to your skin and speaking with a health professional about anything concerning can help identify changes that may require further assessment.
