MASTERCARD PAYMENT OUTAGE

A widespread Mastercard issue is affecting some card payments across Australia today.

If you’re visiting us and your Mastercard payment is declined:

CommBank customers: insert your physical card into the EFTPOS terminal and select SAVINGS rather than tapping. CommBank advises this may allow the payment to be processed via eftpos.

If that doesn’t work, please try an alternative card or payment method if you have one available.

If you normally use Apple Pay or another mobile wallet linked to Mastercard, consider bringing your physical card, as some mobile payments have also reportedly been affected.

There’s no need to worry if your card is declined — this may be related to the current Mastercard outage rather than an issue with your account.

ABC News has more information:
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-08-15/mastercard-outage/107042220

If you’re coming in for an appointment today, it may be worth bringing an alternative way to pay just in case. Hopefully this doesn't affect anyone too much otherwise. Have a good weekend from our team! 💕

Your healthcare. Your rights.

Every person receiving healthcare in Australia has rights, regardless of their age, background, culture, language or beliefs.

The Australian Charter of Healthcare Rights helps patients understand what they can expect from their healthcare providers, including the right to:
• Be treated with respect.
• Ask questions and receive information they can understand.
• Be involved in decisions about their care.
• Include family, carers or support people if they choose.
• Share what matters most to them.

At Tuggeranong Chiropractic Centre and Tuggeranong Therapeutic Massage, we believe the best healthcare happens through listening, clear communication and working together to help achieve your health goals.

Are you watching the Commonwealth Games?
We've loved watching Australia's incredible performances so far! 💚💛

As a clinic with a special interest in sports medicine we're definitely enjoying it! One statistic caught our eye: when you compare medals per million people, Australia is leading the major Commonwealth nations. It's a great reminder of what dedication, consistency and teamwork can achieve.

If you are following the Commonwealth Games which Australian athlete or event has been your favourite so far?

UPDATE - National Emergency Alert System Test – Monday 27 July

Just a heads up for anyone visiting our clinic tomorrow.

The Australian Government will be conducting a national test of the new AusAlert emergency warning system on Monday 27 July.

During the test, compatible mobile phones may:
- Display a test emergency alert
- Emit a loud siren-like sound
- Vibrate briefly

This is only a test. No action is required.

Not all devices will receive the alert, and those that do may receive it at different times. This is expected.

If your phone sounds during your appointment, there's no need to worry—it's simply part of the nationwide test.

Thank you for your understanding.

Many spinal imaging findings are incredibly common in people without any pain at all.

By age 40, studies have found that among people with no back pain:
• 68% have disc degeneration
• 50% have disc bulges
• 33% have disc protrusions
• 18% have facet joint degeneration

These findings become even more common as we get older. By age 60, nearly 9 in 10 people show some degree of disc degeneration on imaging.

This doesn't mean scans are useless. Imaging can be very important when serious conditions are suspected. However, it does remind us that terms such as "wear and tear", "degeneration" or "bulging discs" do not automatically explain why someone is experiencing pain.

Pain is complex and is influenced by many factors, including tissue health, physical loading, sleep, stress, previous experiences, beliefs, general health and nervous system sensitivity.

A scan is only one piece of the puzzle. The most important question remains:

How is the person functioning and what is contributing to their symptoms?

If you've recently had imaging and are unsure what the findings mean, discussing the results with a qualified healthcare professional can help put them into context. Get in touch!

Telstra is currently experiencing a nationwide mobile network outage affecting SMS services across Australia.

This means some appointment reminders and SMS delivery confirmations may be delayed for patients on affected networks.

This is a Telstra network issue, not an issue with our clinic. Any delayed messages should send automatically once Telstra restores services.

If you have an appointment with us, please check your booking details carefully and contact the clinic if you’re unsure of your appointment time.

Long desk days can add up.

Recent reporting has highlighted concerns around sedentary work, including tight hips, neck discomfort and reduced mobility. Safe Work Australia also advises that workers should not stay in seated, standing or static postures for long periods.

There is no single perfect posture. The body generally prefers variety — changing position, taking short movement breaks and building more movement into the workday.

Need help working through a neck, back or shoulder concern? Let us know! Call us or book online.

A walkable neighbourhood can make a real difference.

CityNews recently reported on research finding that people in well-connected regional towns walked about 75 minutes more each week than those in less walkable areas. The article noted this accounts for about 50% of recommended weekly physical activity guidelines.

That is a good reminder that regular movement does not always need to be complicated. A short walk to the shops, walking at lunch, or adding small bouts of movement into the day can all count. It doesn't have to be a full walk around one of our lakes. Luckily we have all our famous cycle-ways in Canberra to get around!

If pain, stiffness or a lack of mobility is limiting your walking or activity, let us know and we're happy to help.
