World Pharmacist Day 2025 - Sigma Co 25/09/2025

World Pharmacist Day 2025 - Think Health, Think Pharmacist

On behalf of everyone in the organisation we want to acknowledge World Pharmacist Day today. We'd like to thank all pharmacists for the valuable role they play in supporting healthier communities and for helping to improve the health outcomes of their patients.

With 5.57 million pharmacists worldwide, World Pharmacist Day offers a significant opportunity to highlight the crucial role pharmacy teams play by providing trusted, accessible health care to their communities every day.

As the world faces more complex, interconnected health challenges, ensuring strong, sustainable healthcare is more vital than ever. Pharmacists are one of the most accessible healthcare professionals which allows them to make a real difference in improving health outcomes.

They help patients use their medicines safely and effectively, provide preventative services such as vaccinations and health checks, and offer timely advice without the need for an appointment. By building trusted relationships and supporting people in managing their health, pharmacists reduce pressure on the wider health system while strengthening community wellbeing.

So on behalf of us all, Happy World Pharmacist Day!

Today is R U OK? Day – a reminder that a simple question can make a big difference.

“Ask R U OK? Any Day” reminds us that life’s ups and downs don’t follow a calendar. Whether it’s a colleague, friend, or loved one, we all face challenges — and a genuine conversation can make a real difference.

At Sigma, we’re committed to fostering a culture where meaningful conversations about mental health are normalised, and where our team members feel safe, supported and heard. We encourage our team members to ask the question, listen with care, and create safe spaces for meaningful conversations.

To mark R U OK? Day, our teams are coming together over BBQs, shared lunches, and morning/afternoon teas — simple moments that foster connection.

Let’s keep showing up for each other — not just today, but any day.

Celebrating Fathers at Sigma Healthcare 💙

This Father’s Day, we’re proud to celebrate the incredible dads across our pharmacy network who balance their careers with the joys and challenges of fatherhood.

We spoke with three inspiring team members – Andrew Georgiou, Mina Wanis, and Klein Wang – who shared what fatherhood means to them, how they find balance, and the values they hope to pass on to their children.

From early morning daycare drop-offs to weekend adventures and bedtime stories, these dads remind us that being present – at work and at home – is what truly matters.

💬 Andrew: “Fatherhood is exhausting at times. But it’s also the most fun I’ve ever had.”

💬 Mina: “Being a dad is humbling - it keeps you grounded and reminds you of what really matters.”

💬 Klein: “Watching my kids grow and discover the world through their eyes is incredibly rewarding.”

To all the fathers, father figures, and those who lead with love and purpose – thank you. And to anyone who finds this time of year difficult, please be kind to yourself and reach out for support if you need it.

Sigma Healthcare (Sigma) has announced its first financial results following the successful merger with the Chemist Warehouse Group (CWG) for the full year ended 30 June 2025 (FY25), exemplifying the growth opportunities of the newly expanded company. As a stronger more integrated healthcare business, Sigma has just started the journey to fully realise the benefits of the merger.

Vikesh Ramsunder, Sigma Healthcare CEO and Managing Director said, “The merger with Chemist Warehouse has delivered a stronger, more integrated healthcare business, with greater scale, capability, and market reach. With like-for-like sales growth an impressive 11.3% across the Australian CW Retail network, robust sales growth in the franchise store network across the major product categories, expanded own brand portfolio products with the launch of 269 Wagner generics products in late 2024, and logistics costs down 11% per unit illustrating the benefit of greater scale, the FY25 results demonstrate the group’s momentum and potential for ongoing growth.”

“Driven by our unwavering commitment to deliver excellence for our customers, partners and suppliers, we will continue to focus on strengthening our operations and driving ongoing efficiencies as a newly integrated organisation. Sigma is well placed to deliver ongoing growth and sustainable returns to shareholders,” stated Vikesh Ramsunder.

🌟 Celebrating NAIDOC Week 2025: Honouring Strength, Vision & Legacy 🌟

This year marks 50 years of NAIDOC Week, a time to reflect on the resilience, culture, and voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The 2025 theme, “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy,” celebrates the leaders of tomorrow who are already making a powerful impact today.

We’re proud to spotlight Alyce Jerrad, recipient of the Dhurranmay-Gal Dhirrabuu (Outstanding Leaders) award. At just 21, Alyce is a Dispensary Technician in Tamworth Discount Drug Store and has recently enrolled in pharmacy studies at UNE. Her journey into healthcare was inspired by her mentor and Tamworth Discount Drug Store pharmacy owner, Lia Mahony, and driven by a passion to create safe, inclusive spaces for mob.

“Being someone in the community that people can be comfortable around and actually want to have a yarn and ask questions makes me feel like I’m doing a lot — even though it’s probably something so little.”

Alyce’s work is grounded in empathy, cultural understanding, and fierce advocacy. She’s building bridges in healthcare, empowering youth, and honouring the legacy of her elders — all while paving the way for future generations.

👏 Congratulations Alyce — your strength and vision inspire us all.

As we mark Pride Month, we are proud to highlight the voices of individuals who contribute to a more inclusive and supportive workplace.

Tim D’Angelo, Competency Transformation Manager - Supply Chain, exemplifies this through his dedication to developing talent and fostering a culture of authenticity and respect. As someone who is passionate about helping others grow, for Tim, Pride Month is a reminder that while we’ve come a long way, there’s still work to do to make sure everyone feels seen and safe.

“Pride Month is about visibility and community. It’s a reminder that being yourself is powerful,” Tim commented.

Tim’s journey is a powerful example of quiet bravery — showing up authentically, even when it’s not easy. From building inclusive career pathways to creating space for others to thrive, Tim embodies what it means to lead with empathy and courage.

“Bravery isn’t about big, loud moments — it’s in the small things: choosing to show up as yourself even when it would be easier not to.”

Tim said he has been lucky to work somewhere that values people for who they are, not just what they do. Having leaders and colleagues who walk the talk on inclusivity — who listen, who are open, who make space — has made a huge difference in feeling like he belongs.

"Real inclusivity means everyone feels like they have a seat at the table and their voice matters."

We’re proud to work alongside people like Tim who remind us that inclusion isn’t a once-a-year event — it’s a daily commitment to respect, kindness, support and belonging — that make people feel truly safe.

🏳️‍🌈 Let’s keep listening, learning, and lifting each other up.

At Sigma Healthcare, we value the differences that make us all unique and support our team members who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community.

This Pride Month, we are proud to share the stories of our people, who reflect on their journey and the role the workplace plays in their day-to-day lives.

For Jess Cameron - Sigma Retail Compliance and Contract Manager, thanks to the supportive environment at Sigma and evolving societal attitudes, she now feels entirely comfortable sharing her full self at work. She said "It's a reminder that visibility can be powerful - and that acceptance, when reflected back at us, can be life-changing. The moments in which I've faced discrimination have taught me empathy, strengthened my self-awareness, and shaped the way I embrace differences in others."

“True inclusion,” continued Jess, “goes beyond ticking boxes or celebrating specific groups. It begins with building a culture that sees and values every individual for who they are – their stories, identities, strengths and quirks. When we model respect and equality for all people, not just members of specific communities, a sense of safety emerges. From that safety, belonging grows. And from belonging, inclusion becomes not just a goal, but a natural part of who we are as an organisation.”

Pride Month is an opportunity for deep gratitude and reflection for Jess. "It's a time to honour progress, but also to continue to advocate for dignity, respect and equality. For how far we've come and for the small, everyday joys of family and life.

"I'll be savouring the messiness of parenthood (like introducing my son to solids) and cherishing the simple, affirming gestures from strangers, like the elderly couple who recently congratulated my wife and me on our parenting, unaware of our backstory, but full of kindness.

I'm also conscious of the privilege of living in Australia; of being able to access secondary carer's leave when our son was born. In over 60 countries, same sex-relationships are still criminalised - places where being me would be dangerous. That reality keeps me grounded in both gratitude and purpose."
