Going from dark box colour to blonde is rarely a one-appointment fairytale.

There’s usually an awkward stage in the middle.

And her name is Blorange. 😂

My gorgeous client had already begun her blonde journey with a previous professional colour service, but the result wasn’t quite where she hoped to be. She knew becoming blonde would be a process — she just wasn’t expecting quite that much orange along the way.

Let’s just say… she and her new copper tones weren’t ready to be seen socially. 😂

So we began the next stage — and this was definitely not a quick appointment.

⏰ Almost 7 hours in the chair.

I strategically placed foils to continue lifting the darker artificial colour while creating dimension, followed by careful toning to balance the warmth exposed during lifting.

When lifting dark hair — especially box colour — red, orange and gold pigments are expected.

The trick isn’t pretending they don’t exist.
It’s knowing what to do with them.

And THIS was our result. 🤎✨

Beautiful variations of brunette, beige, caramel and lighter tones that change depending on the light.

Natural. Dimensional. Seamless.

Most importantly, we’re now well on our way to blonde without sacrificing the condition of her hair — or requiring a hat between appointments. 😂

Because the colour has been intentionally blended, it will also soften and fade beautifully as we continue going lighter.

Introducing one of the newest additions coming to Uzuri Hair — Invisible Hair Extensions.

Think of them a little like false lashes for your hair. Fine strands are strategically added amongst your own hair, without the obvious beads, tapes or traditional extension joints you may be used to seeing.

The result?
Hair that simply looks like your hair.

And they’re not just about making hair longer.

The photo above shows one of my favourite possibilities — COLOUR WITHOUT COLOURING YOUR HAIR. 🌈

Those pink and purple pieces aren’t dyed into the client's natural hair. They're extensions.
That means we can play with fashion colours, pops of brightness, contrast or dimension without having to pre-lighten those pieces first, and when you're over the colour, we can change it.

But this is where this technique gets REALLY interesting…

Invisible extensions can also be strategically used to:

• Fill small gaps and sparse areas
• Add density to fine or thinning hair
• Add fullness around the sides, temples and hairline
• Add subtle volume through areas where conventional extensions may be difficult to conceal
• Create face-framing colour and dimension
• Correct areas where the hair doesn't feel quite full enough
• Blend alongside other extension methods for a completely customised result

Because the attachments are extremely small and lightweight, V-Light techniques allow extensions to be placed in areas where larger tapes, rings or conventional bonds may otherwise be noticeable. zoyag.com

🍷 A Little Bit Merlot… A Whole Lot of Gorgeous

There’s something about a deep, rich burgundy that just hits differently.
This colour is all about depth — a beautiful brunette base infused with w**e, berry and red-violet tones that come alive as the light hits the hair.
And can we talk about that SHINE? ✨
What I love about colours like this is that they don’t have to be bright or screaming red to make an impact. Indoors it can appear deep, sophisticated and almost brunette, but move into the light and those gorgeous burgundy tones suddenly reveal themselves.
The soft layers and flowing finish make the colour even more dimensional, allowing different shades of red, plum and w**e to peek through with every movement.
Rich. Glossy. Sophisticated. And just a little bit dramatic.

Sometimes a colour correction isn’t just a colour service… it’s a full-blown rescue mission. 😂

This gorgeous head of hair came to me carrying a little extra baggage — chlorine and swimming build-up, plus a home colour that had decided orange was apparently the assignment. 🧡

Spoiler alert: it wasn’t.

So before I could even think about creating the final colour, we needed to deal with what was hiding in the hair first.

The result is that gorgeous blend of cool brunette, soft caramel and beige tones that looks expensive without looking overdone.
