These aren’t groundbreaking. They’re actually the most basic things and that’s exactly why they slip!
When we’re in our own space day in day out it’s easy to stop noticing what our clients experience. Sometimes the most powerful upgrades cost nothing at all! Take a step back look at your protocol and remember it's the little things that make the experience 🤍🫶🏼

Just your little midweek reminder 🤍🫶🏼🤣
At the end of the day as much as we love giving in this industry we are also here to make money.
If you weren't making money at your job you wouldn't stay, so don't treat your business any different. You must sit down and work out your cost price or what it costs you to break even.
There are so many ways to do this and even more ways on how to introduce a new 'thing' into your business without undervaluing it - so I'd love to hear what you do below in the comments and maybe my girl Kimberley Haworth | Beauty Business Coach from Beauty Business School can chime in as she's is the master at this!
Don't under sell yourself or what you do, your doing this for a reason so share that passion loudly so the right people can receive it🤍🫶🏼
Inflammation, it's the driver. Everything else is just a symptom.
Chronic inflammation is the most important thing you need to understand as a beauty therapist.
Almost every condition sitting in your treatment room right now — acne, rosacea, sensitivity, pigmentation, premature ageing — has chronic inflammation at its root.
When the immune system perceives a threat, such as bacteria, stress, UV damage or a compromised microbiome, it triggers an inflammatory response. In healthy skin, that response resolves. But when the trigger never goes away, the inflammation becomes chronic. Low grade, persistent, and slowly destructive.
Chronically inflamed skin loses ceramides, the lipids that hold the barrier together. Without them, TEWL increases and the skin’s pH begins to rise away from its naturally acidic state of 4.5 to 5.5. The acid mantle, our skin’s first line of defence, depends on that slightly acidic environment to maintain microbiome balance, support enzyme activity, and keep harmful bacteria from taking hold. When it becomes more alkaline, that entire system starts to break down. Bacteria thrive. Barrier repair slows. The skin becomes increasingly vulnerable to the very irritants and triggers it was designed to keep out. The skin is trapped in an environment it simply cannot regulate on its own.
There’s even a term for what chronic inflammation does to ageing skin —
So more is not always more. When the skin is already inflamed, pushing harder doesn’t accelerate results, it accelerates damage. Anything that further challenges a compromised barrier can trigger the very inflammatory cascade you’re trying to resolve. Sometimes the most clinical decision you can make is to slow down.
Inflammation doesn’t just live in the skin, it’s fed by the nervous system. A body locked in chronic stress keeps cortisol elevated, and elevated cortisol is one of the most significant drivers of inflammatory skin conditions. Switching on the parasympathetic nervous system, rest, digest and repair, is not a luxury add on. It is a treatment. Because a regulated nervous system creates the internal environment the skin needs to finally start
