“We skipped the usual therapy session today to let him be a kid” 🥹

Words that broke my heart hearing, but also filled my heart with joy knowing how much fun, laughter and enjoyment came from this support session.

There’s something so beautiful about watching a participant experience the world in their own way. 💙

Today, our support worker took a participant living with cerebral palsy along to messy play, creating a space for fun, exploration, sensory experiences and, most importantly, connection. 🫧🎨

It’s not just about getting out and doing an activity. It’s about creating opportunities to build confidence, encourage independence, experience something new and make memories along the way.

Because support is about more than care, it’s about helping people live, experience and enjoy life. 💕

What brings a smile to my day:
✨Seeing pugalier Doug’s double bum wiggle when he sees me.

What do I love most about being a support worker?
✨Seeing the little ones I work with and having them interact with me knowing who I am. They know they are safe.

✨After a day at work reflecting on how awesome it is to have spent my day helping others to get through their day.

✨Supporting families and understanding what their day looks like and going above and beyond to make a difference. Working close with families is such a beautiful thing.

✨ I absolutely love getting out in nature, whether it be the country, rainforest or watching the waves roll over at the beach. I enjoy baking and recently this year I've explored my passion for motorsports and have started competing in rally events, such as khanacross through the Gold Coast motorsport club, who also have a disability team!

✨Seeing any animals out in nature or with their human owners enjoying their outings always brightens my day

✨My passionate for being a support worker stems from assisting individuals to reach their potential that they might not be able to see within themselves, especially without support. The small wins are always important and I enjoy celebrating every achievement. As they say it takes a village and with 8 years experience I'm able to say support workers are sometimes able to see things in a different light and are able to bring different perspectives to help to families in a way that might not have been seen from the inside. I enjoy engaging children in the community and building their individual capacities to assist them to have a stronger sense of self in the future

✨I became a support worker because I’ve always been someone who genuinely cares about people and wants to make a positive difference in their lives. I find it incredibly rewarding to help others build confidence, become more independent, and achieve goals they might not have thought were possible.

✨As a mum, I’ve also learned the importance of patience, understanding, and adapting to each person’s individual needs. Those experiences have given me a deeper appreciation for how much the right support can change someone’s life.

✨What I love most about this role is building genuine relationships. Seeing someone smile, gain confidence, try something new, or become more independent reminds me why I chose this career. I don’t see it as just a job, it’s an opportunity to make someone’s day a little easier and help them live the life they want.

✨I’m currently completing my Certificate III in Individual Support, and this is a career I want to continue growing in because I’m passionate about supporting people with respect, dignity, and empathy.
