Little Superheroes

An update on what’s happening with my son’s NDIS plan.

After requesting equipment he desperately needs, we were told his entire plan would need to be reviewed.

And now we know how they’re proceeding.

The NDIS will complete their process and develop a new plan before we have the opportunity to submit our updated evidence.

So essentially, we have to wait and see what they decide. And if we don’t agree with the outcome, we’ll look at our options to challenge it.

But I’m certainly not sitting around doing nothing.

I’ve already contacted his therapists to organise updated reports. We’re arranging a new Functional Capacity Assessment, and I’ll be writing a Carer’s Impact Statement and a Sibling Impact Statement.

Because it’s not just about diagnoses or funding.

It’s about the reality of everyday life. The care, the challenges, the impact on the entire family and what these supports actually mean to our children.

We shouldn’t have to fight so hard for things our children genuinely need.

I know so many families are navigating similar situations, and sharing our experiences might just help another parent feel a little less alone.

WELLINGTON POINT
Tuesday | 3:45pm -5:45pm
Wednesday | 12:30pm -4:30pm
Saturday | 10:00am -2:00pm

Supporting neurodivergent children within the home and community. School drop offs and community access may be required, with kilometres paid for travel during shifts.

ALEXANDRA HILLS
Monday to Friday | 7:00am - 9:00am

Morning support for two children, including getting ready for the day and school drop off.

We’re looking for people who are confident, reliable and experienced supporting children with neurodivergence and behaviours of concern.

After reading through so many of your comments on the last post, this is what kept coming back to me.

Parents are having to advocate so hard for their child’s basic necessities….
Writing carers impact statements & gathering evidence.
Yet still having to question decisions and prepare for reassessments.

All while doing the actual job of raising and caring for our children.

We will always advocate for them. Of course we will.

But it shouldn’t have to feel this hard to access the things our children genuinely need.
