💇♀️🧡 HOMELESS HAIR CARE TIPS 🧡💇♂️
When you're experiencing homelessness or doing it tough, something as simple as washing and maintaining your hair can become a real challenge.
At The Haven Hair, we know that looking after your hair isn't about vanity
it's about comfort, hygiene, confidence and dignity.
Here are some practical tips:
🚿 If you have access to a shower, focus on thoroughly rinsing your scalp, not just your hair.
🧢 Wear a hat in the sun to protect your scalp and reduce dryness.
🪮 Brush or comb your hair daily if possible.
This helps distribute natural oils and reduces tangles.
💧 Stay hydrated. Healthy hair starts from within.
🧴 Avoid overusing dry shampoo.
It can be helpful in emergencies but can build up on the scalp over time.
🧦 If sleeping rough, consider tying long hair back loosely before bed to help prevent knots and breakage.
🛏️ A clean pillowcase, beanie or scarf can help keep hair cleaner for longer.
✂️ Regular trims help remove split ends and make hair easier to manage.
🦠 If you notice persistent itching, sores, dandruff, lice or scalp irritation, seek advice early. Small issues can become much bigger problems if left untreated.
💚 Most importantly, remember that your circumstances do not define your worth. Everyone deserves to feel clean, comfortable and confident.
The Haven Hair is proud to support members of our community by helping provide not just hair services, but also a welcoming space where everyone is treated with kindness and respect.

Classic and creative hairstyles for Halloween 🦇
🎃Pumpkin Bun: Create a high bun with orange temporary hair spray to mimic a pumpkin. Add a small leaf or twist a bit of brown paper to the top to make a stem.
😸Cat Ears: Part hair down the middle, then create two small, tight ponytails. Roll each into a small bun and secure with bobby pins. Use a black hair chalk or temporary spray to add whiskers or a nose to your face for a more complete look.
🕷Spider Bun: Section hair into four ponytails at the back of your head, leaving the front sections down. Braid or twist the ponytails into buns and secure them. Use hairspray to create a sticky effect and attach a few plastic spiders to the buns and the surrounding hair.
💀Skeleton Braids: Create two low ponytails. Braid the hair on each side, making them flat to your head by pulling them through so they are flat. Secure with pins or elastic. Pull the hair at the base of the braid so that it feathers out.
🩰Ballerina Bun: A sleek, high bun is a classic that can be made more festive for Halloween with added glitter or a spider-web-like pattern on top. Secure with hairspray and pins.
🛸Space Buns: Create two high ponytails and twist the ends into buns. This is an easy and effective way to make a statement.
👧Harley Quinn Pigtails: For this look, part your hair down the middle and create two high ponytails. Use bobby pins to secure the pigtails at the very back of your head for a Harley Quinn look.
🌈Using color and accessories
Temporary color: Use temporary hair sprays or chalk to add streaks or a full color change. These are ideal for a one-night transformation and wash out easily.
Glitter Gel: Use a glitter gel around the elastic of a ponytail to add a glamorous, but spooky, touch for a vampire or witch look.
Wire: Wrap a thin gold wire around buns for a devil or harley quinn look.
🌻 Wellness Wednesday — “The Mind-Scalp Connection”
Did you know stress can actually cause hair loss or slow growth?
When we’re anxious, our scalp tightens and blood flow decreases, meaning our hair doesn’t get the nourishment it needs.
This Wednesday, try this:
🧘♀️ Take five deep breaths.
💆♀️ Brush slowly from scalp to ends — it’s like meditation for your hair.
🌿 Add a drop of lavender or rosemary oil for calm and shine.
Self-care isn’t vanity; it’s maintenance for your spirit. ✂️💛

🎃 Spooky Styles & Hair Hacks for Halloween 💇♀️🕸️
Halloween’s the perfect excuse to get a little wild with your hair — but don’t let the fright night leave you with a frightful mess the next day!
Here are a few Halloween hair hints and hacks to keep your locks healthy and spooky:
💜 Prep before the party – Brush out tangles and add a little leave-in conditioner before applying any colour sprays or glitter. It’ll protect your strands from drying out.
🧡 DIY Colour Fun – Try temporary colour wax or spray for bright, bold looks that wash out easily. Think purple witch streaks, silver zombie shimmer, or pumpkin-orange highlights.
🖤 Updos & Braids – Need a last-minute look? Messy buns can become spider nests 🕷️ or braided crowns can turn you into an enchanted forest queen.
💚 Aftercare is key – Use a clarifying shampoo followed by a deep-conditioning mask the next day to remove product build-up and bring your hair back to life.
✨ Bonus tip: If you’re using glitter, mix it with hair gel and apply with a brush — no more vacuuming sparkles for weeks!
👻 Whether you’re going all out or keeping it simple, remember: good hair doesn’t need to be scary.
