We are deeply saddened to announce the demise of Dr. Gayan Danthanarayana, a former student of Lyceum International School, Nugegoda. Dr. Danthanarayana, a batchmate of Mr. Nikitha Grero, Director of Lyceum International Schools also played in the same band with him and Dr Gayan was the most outstanding student in the Class of 2005. After completing his education, Dr. Danthanarayana obtained his medical degree in China and practised at the Colombo North Teaching Hospital located in Ragama.

Dr. Danthanarayana, unfortunately, contracted COVID-19 and was first admitted to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases. After being transferred to the Intensive Care Unit of the Karapitiya Hospital for further treatment, he became the first doctor in Sri Lanka to succumb to the complications brought on by the disease.

Dr. Danthanarayana's demise will undoubtedly be a major loss to the medical field and Lyceum International Schools, Lyceum Nugegoda will be dedicating a scholarship to his name.
We extend our deepest condolences to his family during this very difficult time.
