WHAT HAPPENED TO REAL WELLNESS?
I honestly have to ask⦠because some of the things I see being marketed to us as āwellnessā are an absolute joke! š¤... and our government actually allow it!
Gummy vitamins packed with colours, flavours and a long list of ingredients... Beauty products marketed as ācleanā or ānaturalā while still containing synthetic fragrances and ingredients I personally donāt want anywhere near my body.
Protein bars proudly advertising 20g+ of protein⦠but turn the packet over and have a look at everything else that comes with those 20 grams...
And then thereās the message weāre constantly being sold as womenā¦
Fake lashes.
Lip fillers.
Botox.
Implants.
More products.
More procedures.
More things to fix, change, enhance and add.
And Iām not here to judge anyone for the choices they make...
But I do wonderā¦
Where do we place our values in ourselves?
When did wellness become about looking different rather than feeling well?
When did ānaturalā become a marketing word instead of a way of living?
Because for me, REAL WELLNESS is much simpler...
Itās the bare essentials.
What we eat.
What we drink.
What we wash with.
What we moisturise with.
What we breathe in.
What we put directly onto our skin.
How we move our bodies.
How we sleep.
How we manage stress.
And how we nourish ourselves from the inside out.
Our skin is our largest organ.
Our bodies are incredibly clever.
And I donāt believe we need to constantly cover, spray, lather, inject and supplement every part of ourselves to be āwellā.
That said, Iām not against supplements, adaptogens or targeted support when theyāre genuinely needed. Sometimes modern life, stress, busy schedules or individual health needs mean we need a little extra nourishment...
But I do believe we should be mindful about what we choose...
For me, that means looking for whole-food-based, clean supplements with simple ingredients, clear sourcing and transparent testing. I want to know whatās actually in the product, where it comes from and whether the company is willing to be honest about its processes.
There is so much rubbish being marketed to us, often with impressive packaging and big promises. Just because something says ānaturalā, ācleanā or āwellnessā on the label doesnāt automatically mean itās good for us...
So yes, supplements and adaptogens can be incredibly useful and for many people, genuinely needed these days. But they should complement a nourishing lifestyle, not replace real food, rest, movement and professional guidance where appropriate...
And we should always be mindful of the companies behind the products we buy... their transparency, their standards and whether they truly care about quality, people and the planet, rather than simply making another quick sale.
Take deodorant for example.
We put it directly onto our underarms, directly over our lymph nodes every single day...Personally, I want to know exactly what Iām putting there.
Same with moisturiser, perfume, makeup, cleaning products and everything else that becomes part of our everyday environment... and donāt even get me started on the supermarket āhealth aisle.ā š... Because honestly⦠sometimes I look at the ingredient list and think... THIS is being sold as health food?!
Iām over the clever packaging...
Over the words natural, healthy, clean and wellness being slapped across products that deserve a much closer look.
I donāt want complicated.
I want real food.
Simple ingredients.
Clean products.
Movement.
Fresh air.
Sleep.
Connection.
Nature.
And a body that gets the chance to do what it was designed to do!
Maybe real wellness isnāt about adding more...
Maybe itās about removing some of the unnecessary stuff...
Less chemicals.
Less processed food.
Less synthetic fragrance.
Less āquick fixesā.
Less pressure to look perfect.
And more nourishment.
More awareness.
More questioning.
More connection to our own bodies.
Nourishment Inside & Out!
Thatās the kind of wellness I believe in!
And honestly⦠I think itās time we started calling that wellness again!
Sorry for the long post, but can the wellness and beauty industry hype get any crazier? An absolute joke!

Because I care! š¤
Itās the little everyday things that totally add up!
It almost feels like itās become normal these days to have gut issues⦠bloating, sensitivities, allergies, inflammation and all the rest.
But maybe we shouldnāt just accept that as normal?...
We are bombarded with so much these days... processed food, additives, preservatives, fragrances, pesticides, chemicals in our environment⦠the list goes on.
Our bodies are actually pretty amazing! ... Theyāre constantly working to process, filter, repair and clean up after us.... but sometimes I think we ask just a little too much and that's being nice... we totally tank them!⦠and then keep piling more on!
So Iām all for taking a few simple things back into our own hands where we can.
One of those little things?
š«§ A bicarb soda soak for your fruit & veggies!
Research has found that bicarb can help reduce "some" surface pesticide residues on produce.
Soā¦
2 teaspoons bicarb soda
1 litre (4 cups) water
Soak 10ā15 minutes
Rinse really well...
For leafy greens, pop them into the salad spinner with the bicarb water, give them a good spin, rinse well and spin again.
Itās not going to remove every pesticide and itās certainly not magic, but if we can reduce some of whatās sitting on the surface, Iām all for it!
We donāt have to do everything!
We donāt have to be perfect!
But we can start paying a little more attention to those little things that add to our toxic load!
Choose real food when we can!
Wash our produce well!
Buy organic where it matters!
Cut back on the unnecessary stuff!
And most importantly⦠letās look after the good guys living in our gut... because when we take care of them, they take care of us.!
Letās give our bodies a little helping hand where we can! š¤
Back to basics!
