I still can’t quite believe I’m typing that.

Being a sole trader is not for the faint hearted. You’re not just the practitioner you’re the receptionist, the marketer, the bookkeeper, the cleaner, the business owner, all before you even get to being a mum, friend or have any social life. Some days it feels like you’re wearing ten hats at once and none of them fit right. It is overwhelming. It is exhausting. And so many people don’t see that side of it.

I’ve pushed myself to my absolute limit over the past few years because deep down I knew I could do this. I’ve failed. I’ve learnt. I’ve tried again. Over and over.

So this one means more than words can really explain.

This weekend, I hit the road for a whirlwind of education, networking and innovation across two of the industry’s biggest events.

Day one started with the Circadia Elevate Education Day ✨
a room full of genuinely inspiring people in the aesthetics industry, covering everything from advanced marketing to the science behind the products we use on you every day. I got an exclusive look at a new addition to the professional range, and had the chance to meet CEO Michael in person. The day wrapped with the Elevate Gala, a celebration of an industry that never stops evolving.

Day two took me to Beauty Expo Australia, where the real hunting began. I sat in on seriously insightful education panels, caught up with my Candela laser reps on what’s next for the technology behind your treatments, and sat in on an eye-opening talk on burnout for business owners that was a timely reminder that looking after myself is part of looking after you. I also walked away with something new for the clinic ⭐️confidential for now, but it’s coming. 👀

Every course, every conversation, every new bit of research it all comes back to one thing: making sure West Coast Laser stays at the forefront, so you always get the best possible outcome.💛

This is one of those results that makes the job worth it. You can still see a touch of pigment on the left — that’s not a miss, that’s a cover-up (the roses) with script sitting underneath, and we’re actively working on lifting that too.

If you’ve ever thought about covering your tattoo with something bigger and darker because you’re not in love with it anymore this is your sign to pump the brakes. 🛑

Laser it first. Every time.

Here’s why: once a tattoo is layered under another one, you’re not just removing one tattoo anymore — you’re removing two, tangled together. It becomes exponentially harder (and slower, and pricier) to lift what’s underneath once it’s buried under fresh ink.

And here’s the part people don’t talk about enough: not every removal needs to end in a full clearance. Sometimes all you need is a fade just enough to soften what’s there so your next artist has a clean, uncompromised canvas to actually create on. A fade is a fresh start, not a failure.

Moral of the story: talk to a laser tech before you talk to a tattoo artist. Your future ink (and wallet) will thank you.

Half way through the year already, A lot has happened. Some big wins, some quiet ones nobody saw, some days that felt like just getting through them was the win.

And I think as business owners we’re so bad at actually sitting in that for a second. We hit the goal and we’re already asking “okay what’s next” before we’ve even let ourselves feel proud. 🥹

So this is just a reminder for me and for you to actually stop and look at what you’ve built. The thing you were scared to start. The thing you almost didn’t post. The thing you kept showing up for even on the days you didn’t want to.

If you’re in business you know this rat race feeling all too well. We’re always chasing the next thing instead of sitting in what we’ve already done.

So if no one’s told you today I’m proud of you. I see the work you don’t post about. And you’ve done more than you’re giving yourself credit for.
