Doing beautiful makeup doesn’t automatically mean you’ll get booked by brides.

And raising your prices isn’t always the answer either.

Over the years, I’ve seen so many talented makeup artists struggle to turn their skills into consistent bridal bookings.

Here’s something I’ve learnt from building my own bridal makeup business and leading a team:

Brides aren’t just booking your makeup skills. They’re booking the EXPERIENCE, TRUST and CONFIDENCE you give them.

You can be incredibly talented, have thousands of followers and a beautiful Instagram feed, but if your content doesn’t speak to brides, or your booking process leaves them confused, you’re potentially losing bookings before they even enquire.

One thing I’ve always focused on is putting myself in my bride’s shoes.

What would make me trust this artist?
What would make me feel confident booking them?
What makes their service worth investing in?

And most importantly, can I picture myself as their bride?

These are some of the principles that have helped me grow my bridal business, and they’re still what I teach my students today.

I’ve shared 5 practical tips in this carousel that you can start implementing in your own business.

And if you want to take your bridal artistry further, my Timeless Bridal Makeup Course teaches you how to create beautiful, personalised bridal looks that speak to your ideal brides.

Comment “TIMELESS” and I’ll send you the course details.

Save this for when you’re planning your next portfolio shoot or reviewing your bridal business strategy.

Your bride’s makeup didn’t fail because of the foundation. It failed before the foundation even went on. 👰‍♀️

As bridal makeup artists, we blame the product. But long-lasting makeup comes down to 5 choices: skin prep, product bases, mixers, powder and setting spray, each matched to her skin type.

Not only prep, treat the skin before it.

As we all know, good skin = good base.

Pay attention to small details that actually play huge part for a flawless base such as: Sebum, bumpy black heads, dry flakey skin, etc need to be treated before the prep products are even applied!

As a bridal mua, you need to come down to the core issue:
Product ingredients

From prep, to wet base, to setting, all products used need to be compatible with each other.

Using randomly without understanding the ingredients of each will cause product pillings and separating

Oil ≠ water
Wax ≠ silicone
Oil ≠ silicone

Aqua Seal and Duraline only working its magic when used correctly.

Again, you need to understand its function and ingredients to know what to mix with.

Pro tips, stay away water-based or wax-based foundation with these 2

Setting powder, the biggest reason making your bride’skin crack, cakey and heavy overtime.

Simple rules: set the right powder to the right skin type, and only set on areas that need it

Oily skin: opt for powder that control oil, fill in pores (for large pores skin)
Dry skin: opt for powder that reflects light giving soft glow while not sucking out the hydration

Setting spray, not for every skin type!
