Cosmetic Hair Co
Empowering beauty✨For women with hair-loss🦋Human hair toppers/ponies that look and feel natural💯
One of the questions I’m asked most often when a client gets a hair topper is:
“How do I make it look natural?”
And honestly, the secret is movement.
Whether you’re wearing a short topper, a long topper, light coverage or full coverage, the principle is exactly the same. Your topper hair and your biological hair need to become one head of hair.
In this video I’m using a Mermade hot brush, which I love because it allows me to lift, smooth and create movement at the same time.
Rather than brushing the topper separately, I take sections of the topper together with the biological hair underneath, lift from underneath and brush the two together.
That’s where the magic happens.
You’re blending the two textures, but you’re also putting air into the hair.
And air is important.
If your biological hair is sitting flat and the topper is sitting flat on top of it, that’s when it can start to feel like you’re wearing something on your head rather than it simply being your hair.
Human hair naturally has movement. Even beautifully straight hair moves. It lifts. It falls. It separates. It doesn’t just sit perfectly flat against the head.
So my biggest tip when styling your topper is:
Lift it. Blend it. Move it.
Use a hot brush, a brush or even the tail of a comb to gently lift your own hair into the topper hair and work them together.
The more the two move together, the less you see where one finishes and the other begins.
And that, for me, is one of the biggest secrets to making a hair topper look beautifully natural. 🤍
Expert guidance. Hair that feels like you.

Things I’ve learned in 38 years as a hairdresser.
Not just about hair. About the women behind it.
She apologises before she even shows me her scalp. She stopped looking at the back of her head years ago. She’s been carrying this quietly, waiting until it felt “bad enough” to ask for help.
We live in a society that makes it hard for a woman to walk around confidently when her hair isn’t her own anymore. And there are tears. So many tears, before anyone else ever sees them.
It’s never just about the hair.
If this is you, I want you to know something. You are not imagining it. You are not overreacting. And you were never the only one.
Every woman who sits with me is safe with me. What’s said in that room stays in that room. No judgement, no rush, just care.
And here’s what keeps me doing this after 38 years. The moment she has her hair back, and she says it herself …she comes alive again. Her whole energy lifts. She laughs differently. She stands differently. That moment still gets me every single time.
38 years in, the one thing I know for certain ,the right solution doesn’t hide you. It gives you back.
I’m here to help, whether you’re in Melbourne or interstate. Swipe through, and if this is someone you know, maybe just send it to her quietly. She’ll know why.

Good to post as is?
Fresh from the trade show ✨
Meet our beautiful Silk 3×5 Hair Toppers ..lightweight, natural and designed for women experiencing beginning to mild hair loss.
And the COLOURS 🤎✨
From bright blondes and dimensional ombrés to warm browns, deep brunettes, black and beautiful greys finding the right shade is such an important part of making a topper look like your hair.
Small, lightweight coverage. Beautiful silk base. Natural-looking scalp.
And this is only a little glimpse of what I brought back… 👀
Steph has always had fine hair, but after having her beautiful baby she experienced postpartum hair shedding, which left her with significantly less density through the top and front.
And I am seeing this more and more.
Postpartum hair shedding is incredibly common. During pregnancy, hormonal changes can keep more hairs in the growing phase, which is why many women notice their hair feels fuller. After birth, those hormone levels change and a larger number of hairs can move into the shedding phase at once. For some women it is mild. For others, particularly when the hair was already fine, the change can feel enormous.
With Steph, the area we needed to cover was quite wide, so a small topper simply wasn’t going to give us the result I wanted.
We chose a 7 x 7 silk based topper. Steph really wanted that beautiful, realistic scalp appearance, and the silk base gives us exactly that while providing coverage across the areas where she has lost density.
Then came the part I absolutely love. The hair.
We chose beautiful European hair with a soft balayage. Rather than simply trying to copy what was already there, I chose the colour and tones specifically to complement Steph’s gorgeous skin tone, then cut, blended and customised the piece into her own hair.
And look at the result. 😍
You don’t look at Steph and think hair topper.
You just see Steph with beautiful hair.
That is always my goal.
Hair loss after having a baby can be confronting, particularly when you already had fine hair before pregnancy. Sometimes women are told to simply wait for it to grow back, but that doesn’t mean they have to spend that time feeling uncomfortable or self conscious about their hair.
A hair topper isn’t about creating more hair than you. It’s about replacing the density that’s missing and making it look like it belongs to you.
That scalp. That blend. That colour. That’s what a properly fitted and customised topper should look like. 🤎
I’m back from the trade show✨✨✨What a trade show it was.
Four enormous halls, three days, hundreds of suppliers and more hair than I care to remember. But I went with one goal: to find exceptional pieces that I would genuinely be proud to bring home to Cosmetic Hair Co.
I wasn’t looking for just another topper. I was looking closely at the quality of the hair, the cap construction, how beautifully it sits against the scalp, density, movement, longevity and, importantly, the manufacturers behind them.
I handpicked two beautiful pieces from established manufacturers with a strong focus on ethical and sustainable hair sourcing and exceptional technical cap construction.
The first is a beautiful 3x5 monofilament topper. The cap sits incredibly flush to the scalp, and the hair quality is premium , soft, silky, beautifully healthy-looking and with natural movement and lustre.
The second is an incredibly lightweight, low-density lace topper. The construction is divine, but what really stood out to me was the hair. It’s full-length hair from root to end, without an abundance of shorter return hairs, which creates beautiful, consistent fullness all the way through while still looking incredibly natural.
After 38 years as a hairdresser, I’m very particular about hair quality how it feels, falls, moves and behaves matters just as much as how a topper looks.
These are the pieces I travelled to find.
And I think you’re going to understand why I brought them home.
And this is only the beginning. I brought so much back with me, and over the next couple of weeks I’ll be sharing more of the incredible pieces, new cap constructions and beautiful discoveries I found at the trade show.
There is SO much more to come for Cosmetic Hair Co. and I cannot wait to show you what’s next.
Guangzhou — Two free days. One city to explore. Let’s go ✨
We kicked things off with a Berocca to get ourselves moving, followed by a beautiful breakfast, then headed out to explore some of Guangzhou.
The shopping was amazing, and we discovered they take popcorn flavours very seriously here — including seaweed! 😂 We also sampled the most delicious puff pastries filled with all kinds of custard, including matcha and, yes… more seaweed.
We finished the evening at Party Pier, watching the riverboats cruise past and soaking up a little of the Guangzhou nightlife.
It’s now midnight, our feet are done, and it’s definitely time for bed. Day one complete 🇨🇳✨
Sometimes you’re just not born with a huge head of dense hair.
The majority of women we see in the salon actually have fine to medium hair, and that’s just their natural hair type.
So honestly, no matter what age you are, if you decide you want a little bit of extra hair, a bit more density, a bit more fullness… I say knock yourself out.
You do not have to wait until you have significant hair loss to give yourself permission to wear a hair topper.
Sometimes you just want your hair to look fuller, sit better, frame your face differently and make you feel a little more fabulous.
And really… why shouldn’t you?
Let’s normalise it, ladies.
Let’s normalise wearing a hair topper because you simply want more hair.
Let’s normalise hair enhancement in the same way we normalise makeup, lashes, brows, hair colour and extensions.
You are not hiding anything.
You are not less authentic.
You are not pretending to be someone you’re not.
You are choosing something that makes you feel good.
So put the gorgeous hair topper on.
Wear it proudly.
Hair enhancement can be subtle, beautiful and completely natural.
It should still look like you.
Just with better hair. ✨
