Navratri Day 7 | Maa Kalaratri
On the seventh day of Navratri, we honour Maa Kalaratri, one of the most powerful forms of Goddess Durga.
With her dark complexion, flowing hair and fierce expression, she represents the destruction of darkness, ignorance and fear. Yet behind her formidable appearance is a compassionate mother who protects her devotees.
Traditionally, jaggery (gur) and sweets made from jaggery are offered to Maa Kalaratri. Grey is considered an auspicious colour for this day.
Ayurveda for today: Jaggery has long been used in traditional Indian preparations, while warming herbal infusions offer a simple moment of comfort and calm.
At AUyurvedic, we love sharing the traditions, wisdom and everyday practices that have been passed down through generations.
Indian by origin. Universal by nature.
Jai Maa Kalaratri.

Navratri Day 6
Jai Maa Katyayani
Today we honour Maa Katyayani, the fierce warrior form of Durga. She rides a lion, holds a sword and a lotus, and her other hands offer blessing and protection. She is the slayer of Mahishasura.
Her favourite colour is green, and traditionally she is offered honey.
A simple Ayurvedic habit for today: stir a teaspoon of raw honey into lukewarm water. Never heat honey. In Ayurveda, honey is always kept away from heat.
May Maa Katyayani give you courage and strength this Navratri.

Day 5 of Navaratri. Maa Skandamata.
She holds her son Skanda on her lap, seated on a lion. A mother’s love and her protection.
Today’s Ayurvedic practice: in India, raw milk has long been used on the face. Cool raw milk, wiped on with slow upward strokes, left for two minutes, then rinsed off.
Today’s colour is yellow.
May peace fill your heart and kindness guide your day. 🙏

avaratri, Day 4 — Maa Kushmanda 🪔
It’s said she brought light into the universe with a smile.
Today is a good day to slow down and do something simple for yourself. Warm a little oil, massage it into your hands and feet, and take a few quiet minutes. In India this is abhyanga, and it’s been part of daily life for generations. Navratri Day 3: Maa Chandraghanta 🔔
She rides a lion and carries weapons to protect those who call on her. One hand blesses, one takes away fear.
A half-moon bell sits on her forehead. When it rings, negativity leaves.
The sky today: Tuesday is the day of Mars, the planet of courage. The moon is waxing, and the stars favour love and harmony. She is traditionally linked with Venus, the planet of grace and beauty.
Ayurveda for today: a cup of warm milk with a few strands of saffron before bed.
Saffron is a key ingredient in our skincare. In Ayurveda it is traditionally used to brighten and even the complexion, and to bring warmth and radiance to the skin. You’ll find it in our Face Glow Oil Serum, Botanical Face Cream and Face Nectar, all handcrafted in small batches in Melbourne, Australia.
Wear red. 🔴
I’m simply sharing the tradition.
Jai Maa Chandraghanta 🙏

Navratri Day 2 | Maa Brahmacharini
On the second day of Navratri, we honour Maa Brahmacharini, the goddess of devotion, patience, wisdom and inner strength.
Dressed in white, carrying a japamala (prayer beads) and a kamandalu (water vessel), she represents simplicity, discipline and the quiet power of perseverance.
In yogic traditions, Maa Brahmacharini is associated with the Svadhisthana Chakra, known in the West as the Sacral Chakra, traditionally linked to creativity, emotional balance, vitality and the flow of life.
Ayurveda reminds us that caring for ourselves can begin with the simplest ingredients.
One such ingredient is ghee, treasured in Indian households and classical Ayurvedic traditions for generations.
In Ayurveda, ghee is traditionally valued for its nourishing and softening qualities. It is also used in Shatadhouta Ghrita, a preparation in which ghee is washed 100 times with water to create a beautifully smooth, creamy texture.
At AUyurvedic, we bring this traditional preparation into our handcrafted botanical face cream, combining classical Ayurvedic knowledge with thoughtful modern skincare.
A gentle facial massage can also become a moment of calm. Using light pressure around the temples and facial marma points, while avoiding direct pressure on the eyes, can create a soothing self-care experience.
This Navratri, take inspiration from Maa Brahmacharini. Embrace simplicity, patience and the beauty of caring for yourself.

Navratri Day 1 , Maa Shailputri
Navratri begins with Maa Shailputri, the daughter of the mountains and the first manifestation of Goddess Durga.
Riding Nandi, the sacred bull, and holding a trident and lotus, she represents strength, stability, purity and our connection to Mother Earth.
In yogic tradition, Maa Shailputri is associated with the Muladhara, or Root Chakra, the foundation of grounding, security and balance.
She is also connected with the Moon (Chandra), which symbolises the mind, emotions and inner calm.
Ayurveda teaches us that balance begins with grounding.
This Navratri, take a few moments to reconnect with yourself.
Massage the soles of your feet with warm Ayurvedic oil, practise gentle breathing, spend time in nature and allow your mind to settle.
A simple practice of Padabhyanga, the Ayurvedic tradition of foot massage, can be a beautiful way to unwind and reconnect with your body.
At AUyurvedic, we celebrate the connection between Ayurveda, yoga, nature and the traditions that have guided Indian wellness for generations.
May Maa Shailputri bless you with strength, stability and inner peace.
