ā€œI just want to look natural.ā€

It’s still one of the first things people tell me in consultations. Honestly, I can’t remember the last time I met someone who walked in and said they wanted to look completely different.

Most people want to look like themselves.

That’s why when I assess a face, I’m not thinking about trends or what’s popular right now.

I’m thinking about balance and structure.

I’m also thinking about how any recommendations I make will look not just today, but months and years from now. IF I do make any.

For me, natural results aren’t about chasing every single line or perfection. They’re about helping someone feel comfortable.

What does ā€œnaturalā€ mean to you?

Something I’ve noticed after doing hundreds of consultations is that most people are a lot harder on themselves than anyone else is.

They’ll point out something they’ve been thinking about for months or even years, and often it’s not even the first thing I notice.

That’s why I never rush into recommendations.

Before we talk about any plans, I look at the face as a whole.
I listen to what’s been bothering you to better understand your goals.

I’m also trying to figure out what will help you feel most like yourself. Because at the end of the day, most people aren’t looking to become someone else.

They just want to feel refreshed!

If you’ve been thinking about booking but aren’t sure where to begin, that’s completely okay. That’s what I’m here for.

I came across some videos and forums about ā€˜diy cosmetics’ and found out about a device called the hyaluron pen.

It’s claimed to be ā€œsaferā€ as no needle punctures are used to administer hyaluronic acid. Since our regulations here in Australia are in place, it’s less commonly used (for a good reason).

A study by Ockerman et al. (2024) found that 79% of participants that used the hyaluron pen developed complications, and even permanent disfigurement.

They are not approved to be used in Australia.

Have you heard about hyaluron pens?

If you’re wondering why you can only book an appointment for a consultation’, here’s why:

Since 2024, the regulations around advertising cosmetic treatments.

Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) interprets that advertising health services with indirect reference to prescription only medications as unlawful (Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, 2024).

The increase in demand for cosmetic treatments will equal to an increased risk of potential risks and complications. So while change can be difficult, it’s done with safety in mind.

Infection can be a rare, preventable risk with nonsurgical cosmetic procedures.

Thorough patient history screening, proper infection prevention measures and following aftercare instructions help reduce the risk of infection.

Just a reminder that cosmetic treatments provided by practitioners are still medical procedures. It is a duty of care for us to deliver your treatment as safely as possible.

It’s been 2 years since the TGA first introduced the changes in advertising cosmetic services.

Change is always difficult, and it feels like we’re still adapting even now.

The treatments we offer are medical procedures where in depth consultations are crucial.

I do agree that at first, it seems confusing and unclear. But I think that the regulations can be empowering for the consumer and highlights the importance of a thorough discussion about your concerns. It also provides you the opportunity to know your practitioner before deciding to go ahead with a treatment.

Has the new regulations changed your views on cosmetic treatments?

Pain perception during cosmetic treatments is influenced by much more than what’s happening at the skin level.

Stress, sleep, past experiences, and how safe you feel all play a role — which is why I focus on education, communication, and support, not rushing or minimising concerns.

If you’ve been curious but hesitant, a consultation allows us to talk through your worries and tailor support to you.
