Makeup Artist vs Beauty Influencer — is there a difference?

Absolutely.

The biggest difference between the two is that makeup artists provide a service, whereas beauty influencers primarily create content around beauty, trends, techniques and recommendations.

Makeup artists do show themselves applying makeup, but many won’t necessarily tell you exactly where to place your contour or blush, or give you a step-by-step application to follow.

Why?

Because we don’t treat makeup as a one-size-fits-all.

For the best results, makeup needs to be tailored to the individual face. Where your blush, contour or eyeshadow sits can change depending on your face shape, eye shape and features.

There are, of course, universal techniques that can be applied to most people. But specific placement needs to be tailored to the individual — an almond eye, hooded eye, deep-set eye, full lips, heart shape or round shape can all require a different approach.
