ASYMMETRY—OR SOMETHING ELSE?

Uneven-looking lips are not always caused by differences in shape or volume. Sometimes, what appears to be asymmetry is actually a pigment issue.

As this image shows, there is a break in the visible border of the upper lip on one side. This makes that side appear flatter and less defined, even though the underlying lip structure may be relatively even.

Where pigment is the concern, cosmetic tattooing, micropigmentation or careful overlining may be more appropriate options.

Years of clinical experience, anatomical knowledge and careful assessment all come into play. We assess the lip’s structure, movement, volume and pigment to understand what is actually creating the imbalance.
