The Skin Version of 'It's Not You, It's Me'

Ever broken up with a skincare product and immediately blamed yourself?

Sometimes it genuinely is not the right fit, not because the product was bad, but because it was not suited to your particular skin at that particular time. Skin needs change with seasons, stress, hormones, and life stage.

A consultation takes the guesswork out of it. Instead of trial and error, you get an actual understanding of what your skin needs right now.

There is a lot of noise out there, conflicting advice, endless product recommendations, and no shortage of opinions on what your skin "should" be doing. It is completely normal to feel a bit lost in all of it.

A Skin Reset Session exists for exactly this reason. It is not about arriving with the right questions or a clear plan already in mind. It is simply a chance to sit down, talk honestly about your skin, and get some clarity without pressure or assumptions.

If you have been putting it off because you are not sure where to begin, that uncertainty is actually a completely reasonable place to start from.

This is also part of why every conversation at Skinhaven starts with genuinely understanding your face, not assuming what you want based on trends or comparisons to anyone else.

Skin is often thought of as one single surface, but it is actually made up of distinct layers, each with its own role.

The epidermis is the outermost layer, largely made up of keratinocytes, and acts as skin's first point of contact with the outside world. Beneath it sits the dermis, where collagen and elastin fibres, blood vessels, and nerve endings all sit, giving skin its structure and resilience.

Skin needling, known clinically as Collagen Induction Therapy, uses a specialised device to create tiny, controlled channels through the epidermis and into the upper dermis, precisely where collagen and elastin are found. This controlled process encourages the skin's own natural processes to get to work in that layer over time.

It is not a one and done treatment. It works best as part of a considered plan tailored to your individual skin.

If you are curious whether it might suit your skin, we would love to talk it through properly in a consultation.

Winter Skin Diaries.

Lately, we've been busy helping clients navigate some of the most common seasonal skin concerns:

• Dryness
• Rough texture
• Dehydration
• Dull-looking skin
• Tight or uncomfortable skin
• A compromised skin barrier

As the weather cools and indoor heating increases, it's completely normal for your skin's needs to change.

Sometimes the answer isn't doing more. It's understanding what your skin needs right now and adjusting your approach accordingly.

If your skin has been feeling different this winter, a personalised consultation can help take the guesswork out of your routine and create a plan tailored to your skin.

IPL has become a go-to treatment for many people looking to refresh the overall appearance of their skin.

It's often chosen for concerns such as pigmentation, redness, sun damage and uneven skin tone, making it a popular option for those wanting brighter, more even-looking skin.

Think of it as a treatment that works beneath the surface while supporting a clearer, fresher-looking complexion over time.

Winter is also one of the most popular times of year for IPL, with less sun exposure making it the perfect season to focus on your skin goals.
