Sometimes life takes you by surprise and smashes away everything you’ve ever known…
An out of the blue illness, 12 months in hospital and radiotherapy meant these dreads were just hanging on and many got lost along the way.
In under 4 hours I reattached them back into position and added some extensions to even it all back out.
I think it turned out great!
Our hair is so important to us and in times like these it’s nice to be able to feel like our old self in at least some ways.
Much gratitude always to the stories and time people share with me.

Couple of cheeky park fixes, similar yet so different
The undercut is a nice way to have the dreads without all the excess heat here in Australia.

Dear qld friends, clients and community…the time has come for me to brave the sweaty north to adorn your scalps with tidier locs
Please reach out if you’d like to book in. I may ask you for a deposit for the booking as touring is a lot to organise.
I recommend getting maintenance around 2-3 months in the beginning of your journey so things don’t get out of hand.
Especially if you have a sensitive scalp..:best not to avoid it because it builds up to a bigger job.
If you are sensitive please let me know and I can offer some breathing techniques to support the process!
I’m a big fan of not interlocking your hair. You can see the difference in this video.
It’s a technique commonly used in some African styles and can work well for their hair and the different looks they want to achieve but in my opinion…it’s not dreads and it ain’t gonna end well.
I crocheted like a crazy lady to give these babies a better head start!

Do you like the sneaky dread look? This is less common in men and I still love it…
Please know they need support in the first few months, if you add just a few dreads in with your whole head of hair and just forget about it a crazy party in the back will happen !
