Storing expired and unwanted medicines in the home can be dangerous, and disposing of them incorrectly can harm the environment. It’s best to take these medicines to your local community pharmacy for disposal. This is a free service that includes disposal of:

· prescription medicines
· over-the-counter medicines
· herbal or complementary supplements
· gels, liquids and creams
· pet medicines.

If you have children under the age of 5 in the house, store all potentially dangerous substances such as medicines out of their sight and reach. As this age group is at the highest risk of accidental poisoning, you should lock away all medicines if possible.

Having strong pain relievers in the home also present a risk of death or hospitalisation from their improper use. In addition to the above, it’s best not to keep strong pain relievers you are no longer using 'just in case,' leave them where children and pets can take or eat them or put them in domestic garbage bins or flush them down the sink or toilet.

Due for a COVID-19 booster? With COVID-19 cases increasing in the community, it’s important to remember that COVID-19 immunity wanes over time.

Now is a good time to consider getting a COVID-19 booster if you are aged 65 years and over or are at higher risk of severe COVID-19 illness and haven’t had one in the last 6 months.

A booster is recommended for all people aged 75 years and over if it has been more than 6 months since your last dose.
A booster helps to improve your long-term protection against serious illness from COVID-19.

⚠️Medicine shortage update - Prescribers advised not to start new patients on Ozempic⚠️

Novo Nordisk has advised that supply of Ozempic will be limited throughout the rest of the year and into 2024.

Ozempic is approved for the management of type 2 diabetes not adequately managed by other medications, in conjunction with diet and exercise.

If you are prescribed Ozempic for another reason, your doctor may decide to switch you to a different medicine. This is because supplies will be intermittent and are being conserved for people without other choices and for whom Ozempic is critical for their health.

Ozempic is in shortage worldwide and the issue is not limited to Australia.

Felton Grimwade & Bosisto’s Pty Ltd is recalling some batches of Euky Bear Warm Steam Vaporiser – Humidifier (batch 230301, 231101, A231101 and B231101) because the enclosed heating element can overheat.
