So for August I've picked the Nu Skin Waterfull Mask as my product of the month. It's a water gel sheet mask that pairs humectants with water binding ingredients, which is a technical way of saying it draws moisture in and helps hold it there.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗜 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂

Most people hear "laser" and think hair removal. Fair enough. But the Aerolase Neo Elite I use in the clinic is a skin device first, and the way it works explains why I won't tell you over Instagram whether it's right for you.

Here's the short version.

It's a type of short pulse laser. Its wavelength is drawn to three things in the skin, each one points at a different type of concern.

• Melanin, the pigment in your skin. So sun spots, freckling, uneven tone
• Haemoglobin, which is what makes vessels visible.
• Water, which sits throughout the deeper layers. So texture, fine lines around the eyes and mouth, scarring, stretch marks

Congestion and acne sit across a couple of those at once.

Now, that's the device. It isn't the assessment.

Because here's the thing about skin. What you see on the surface doesn't always tell you what's driving it. Two people can walk in with what looks like the same patch of pigment and need completely different approaches. One's sun damage. One's hormonal. Same mark, different story.

So when you come in, I'm working through what’s causing what you're seeing, not just what it looks like, your skin history, your medications, how much sun exposure, if the laser is right for you, and what’s realistic for your skin, and what isn't.

Sometimes the answer is yes. Sometimes it's not yet. Sometimes it's a different treatment entirely, and occasionally it's "please go and see your GP first," which I'll always say if I think it.

That last one matters. If something on your skin is new, or it's changed, or it's behaving oddly, that needs a doctor before it needs me. That's not my lane and I won't pretend otherwise.
