This October, Dr Leo will present two oral scientific papers at the 34th ISHRS World Congress in Rio de Janeiro, an international congress focused on hair restoration research, education and clinical practice. It marks a significant milestone for Dr Leo.
He’ll present:
Extraction and Implantation Speeds in FUE Hair Transplantation - a multicentre retrospective study of 612 cases.
The NATURAL Criteria Framework — a standardised approach to the visual assessment of hair transplant outcomes.
Two pieces of research contributing to how the field measures technique and outcomes.
We’re proud to see Dr Leo representing Gro and contributing to the wider hair restoration profession. Congratulations, Dr Leo.

Six months in, and it's coming through. There are still stages of growth to come.
2,362 grafts, 6,735 hairs, placed into a receding hairline by Dr Gamze at our Brisbane clinic, with density, angle and direction mapped out before the procedure began.
A transplant treats the placed area only. Hair loss can continue elsewhere, and further treatment may be relevant over time.

Transplant day doesn’t start with the procedure. It starts with a consultation.
Dr Muchi, our hair transplant doctor in Perth, walks through how the day actually runs. The hairline gets designed first, around age, head shape and what the patient wants, before anything is extracted or placed.
From there it’s individual work. Each follicle is extracted on its own, stored so it stays viable, then placed according to its own direction.
And the day isn’t the end of it. The follow-ups matter as much as the procedure. We check in through to 18 months, and we’re here for whatever you need in between.

Nine months in, and it’s coming through.
3,761 grafts. 8,393 hairs, placed with density, direction and the patient’s existing hair mapped out before anything went in.
And there’s more to come. At nine months transplanted hair is still working through its growth cycle, so this isn’t the finished picture yet. Individual timelines vary.

What's causing it decides what's worth doing about it.
Genetic loss is managed over time. Shedding after stress or illness usually resolves once the cause does. Patchy loss needs a diagnosis first. Tension damage needs the tension gone.
Knowing which one you're dealing with is what any plan gets built on.
This is general information, not a diagnosis. If you want to talk it through, start with a free 15-minute Discovery Call, a no-pressure conversation with an advisor rather than a medical assessment: regro.au/dc
General information only, not medical advice. Individual factors vary and hair loss can have multiple contributing factors. Full information: regro.au/risks

This is what one day at Gro Clinics looks like.
3,587 grafts and 8,555 hairs, placed one at a time by Dr Anwar. Where each one sits, the angle it grows at and the direction it travels were all decided before the day began.
The after-procedure image isn't a result. It's placement, photographed before anything has started to grow. From here the follicles settle in and move through their growth cycle over the months ahead.

Between extraction and placement, this is where the grafts wait.
Laid out, counted, and kept cold. Follicles are living tissue, so the conditions they're held in between coming out and going back in are part of the plan, not an afterthought.
It's the quietest part of the day, and one of the most deliberate.

Six months is a checkpoint, not a finish line.
2,334 grafts, 6,191 hairs, placed into a receding hairline with density, angle and direction mapped out before the procedure began.
At six months the transplanted hair is still moving through its growth cycle, so what you're seeing here will keep changing. We show it at this stage because it's part of the real timeline, not just the endpoint.
A transplant treats the placed area only. Hair loss can continue elsewhere, and further treatment may be relevant over time.

Patient education matters as much as technique. What happens in the months afterwards is just as important as the procedure itself.
Meet Dr Leo, one of our hair transplant doctors in New Zealand. In Auckland, as in all our clinics, we perform FUE: each follicular unit taken individually from the back of the head, then placed where it's needed.
Here Dr Leo explains the timeline, which is one of the first things most people want to understand. The healing, how long growth actually takes, and the shedding phase.
Shedding is the phase most people don't realise is coming, and the one worth understanding before you start.
