Vegan, low-waste, environmentally Cocoa butter: very moisturising to the skin.
Ingredients and descriptions of Victoria Plum Soap:
Coconut oil: Incredibly moisturising on the skin, produces a bubbly lather to the soap. It also makes for a very hard, white bar of soap, and gives the soap a 'cleansing' effect, that surfactants/detergents do in main stream soap, without the awful stripping of natural oils of the skin. Olive oil: olive oil is also moisturizing, and makes hard, t
herefore long lasting bars of soap and is an exceptionally mild ingredient, so great for babies and sensitive skins. I use this as a substitute to palm oil. It is rich in lather but also produces a hard soap again ensuring the longevity of each bar. Natural cocoa butter has a yummy warm chocolate scent that will come through and give natural sweet smell to the soap. Sweet almond oil: again highly moisturizing oil that is very light and absorbs well, and also helps produce lather. This product does produce a softer soap so I use a low percentage
Castor oil: helps increase the lather in soap - a rich, creamy lather that we all love when cleansing. It's also a humectant oil, helping to increase moisture in the skin. Lye: mixed with aqua this is what turns the liquid oils into a solid, it is necessary for the soap making process. By definition, soap is a chemical reaction between oil and lye. This reaction is called saponification. During the saponification process, the lye gets used up. That means it is not present in the bars after they’re cured, hence my soap sits under my stairs in a dark dry area for six weeks before I can get it to you! Fragrance: I use fragrance as appose to essential oils because in my soap they are purely to make it smell yummy, essential oils are great but only necessary when used in aromatherapy. Pigment: I use a powder cosmetic pigment in my soaps just because it pretty. I realised I could use natural on my dry eczema/allergic skin probably 9 years ago after having to use awful medicated lotions/soap substitutes most of my life. So about a year and a half ago I started making them myself, since then I have experimented (only causing one chemical reaction :)) and come up with my own recipe, my main objective, if you hadn’t already noticed was to keep my skin hydrated the problem with that is sometimes soaps feel amazing but only last a week or so in the shower, not good enough. So with my recipe, first off, yes, it is moisturising but also lathers which feels great and is a 'hard' soap so lasts for longer. I do recommend using a puff or face cloth to help with the lather but it is not necessary. This soap is so amazing you can also use it as a face cleanser, of course you still need to use a polishing scrub 2-3 a week also ;)
