Struggling with acne? Here is a little secret!! 💃Skin type does play a role. 😊 But it’s actually a little deeper than that.
Biologically, we all have the same hair follicle system (the pilosebaceous unit). Its job is to produce oil that protects the skin and to shed dead skin cells normally. Acne begins when this normal process becomes disrupted.
The real question isn’t just “What skin type do you have?” but “What’s disrupting the hair follicle?” That disruption could be hormones, genetics, diet, certain skincare products, medications, stress, or other factors.
Once we understand what’s causing that disruption, we can create a treatment plan that targets the real problem. Just as there isn’t one medicine for every illness, there isn’t one magic product that works for everyone’s acne. That’s why understanding the underlying cause is so important.
