Homonymous hemianopia is a condition where a person loses half of their field of vision in both eyes. Imagine looking straight ahead, and you can only see things on the left side or only on the right side, but not both. This happens because of damage to the brain, often from a stroke or head injury, that affects the visual pathways. Orthoptists can help provide Peli prisms and deliver therapies to help optimise the residual vision a person has.
