👀As we age, the fat pads in the face gradually shift, shrink, and lose volume. In youth, these fat pads are full and evenly distributed, giving the face smooth contours and a lifted appearance. Over time, gravity, decreased skin elasticity, and fat resorption cause them to deflate and descend, leading to hollowing under the eyes, flattening of the cheeks, deepening of nasolabial folds, and jowling along the jawline. This redistribution contributes to the more angular, sagging appearance often associated with facial aging.
