WASHING AND MAINTAINING YOUR KIDS HAIR

Washing your child’s hair doesn’t need to be a daily routine. For most kids, washing 2–3 times per week is more than enough to keep the scalp clean and healthy. Over-washing can strip away the natural oils that protect the hair and scalp, often leading to dryness, irritation, or even increased oil production.

The purpose of washing hair is to remove dirt, sweat, and buildup—not to completely dry out the scalp. Those natural oils are actually essential for keeping your child’s hair soft, shiny, and manageable. When hair is washed too frequently, it can become brittle, frizzy, and harder to maintain.

By spacing out washes, you help maintain a balanced scalp environment and healthier hair overall. On non-wash days, a simple brush-through or rinse (if needed) is perfectly fine. This approach keeps hair looking fresh while protecting its natural strength and moisture.

We’re updating our hours at Minx Hair Studio and will now be open Tuesday to Sunday, with MONDAY MORNINGS APPOINTMENTS ONLY — Mondays have been amazing, but seven days a week just isn’t sustainable long term, so if you’d like a Monday booking please reach out early. As a reminder, WE ARE A SMALL BUSINESS AND LAST-MINUTE CANCELLATIONS OR CHANGES HAVE A MASSIVE IMPACT, so your consideration truly means everything.
