In this part 2 episode of 'Women who move' with my friend Tony, we hear about her Ironman races which involve and incredible 3.8km swim, 180km cycle and a full marathon!
In 2022 she attempted her first Ironman but unfortunately she had issues with her knee and was taken off the course during the cycling leg because she didn't hit the bike cutoff time.
Still determined she gave herself 12 months to get fit with strength training and the right diet.
In 2024 she was ready to try again. At age 68, she completed the Port Macquarie Ironman. She crossed that finish line with absolute determination (only missing the official cutoff by 24 minutes) and rang the first-timers bell with people in the pub who were still there at one o'clock in the morning, cheering her on.
Tony is still moving, still training, and still finding her mojo as she continues her incredibly inspiring and resilient movement journey.
In this episode of 'Women who move' I speak to my lovely friend Tony. I met Tony when I first joined a triathlon club. She's an inspiring triathlete who's been racing for 20 years - starting when she was 51. She did her first triathlon in 2007 - Triathlon Pink, a fundraiser for breast cancer research in memory and inspiration of her sister had died of breast cancer a few years before.

If we haven't met yet, I'm Jen, your local massage therapist based in Manly - just a short walk from the beach. I have a studio on Darley Road where I specialise in working with women who want to stay strong, pain-free, and active - at any stage of life.
If you're thinking about getting a massage, come and see me. I'm happy to work with you and answer any questions you may have. You can book in via my link in bio.
I've got something exciting coming to the studio. Watch this space!
Sometimes you might come in for a massage wanting to focus on a particular spot. I also like to get you to move your body and try different positions in case in there's areas you haven't even noticed are tight or sore so I can focus attention on them.
Where your neck meets your skull holds a lot of tension because it's where several muscles anchor your head and support constant micro-adjustments for balance, posture, and eye movement. Releasing some of the tension with massage can help not only make you feel more relaxed but can also help with posture and tension headaches.
If this sounds like something your body is needing - I would recommend booking in for my Indian head massage. Link in bio
