It sounds counterintuitive, injure the skin to improve it?
But it's one of the most well-researched mechanisms in aesthetic medicine.
When the skin detects a wound, even a tiny, controlled one, it activates a cascade of healing.
Platelets clot, growth factors are released, and fibroblasts (your collagen-producing cells) are recruited to the site.
Several of our most effective treatments use micro-injury as their core mechanism.
- RF / Micro-Needling: Creates controlled micro-injuries on the surface of the skin, stimulating collagen production. RF adds further micro-injury
- Laser: Fractional resurfacing - precise column damage to trigger renewal
