After five wonderful years, it’s time for us to say goodbye to our very own Glitter Queen, Brooke. ✨💖

If your child has ever had an appointment with Brooke, there’s a very good chance they left Little Herberts with considerably more glitter on their head than was strictly necessary! 😂✨ Brooke LOVES all things sparkly and has never been one to hold back when a little extra glitter was called for.

Over the past five years, Brooke has become such an important part of Little Herberts. She has built the most beautiful relationships with so many of our families, and we know there are lots of parents and kids who simply won’t see anyone else. We’re sure there will be some very sad little faces when they hear she’s leaving. 🥹

On a personal note, I can honestly say that Little Herberts would not be the business it is today without Brooke’s hard work, dedication, professionalism and creativity. She has given so much to the salon over the years, and I will always be incredibly grateful for everything she has contributed.

Brooke has decided it’s time for a completely new adventure and a career change away from hairdressing. While we’re very sad to see her go, we’re also excited for her as she starts this next chapter.

Her final day with us is today, so please join us in saying a HUGE thank you to Brooke for five fabulous, fun and very glittery years at Little Herberts. ✨

Today is R U OK? Day 💛

At Little Herberts, we talk a lot about children who find haircuts difficult.

For some kids, a haircut isn't "just a haircut". The noise of clippers, hair on their skin, an unfamiliar chair, being touched or simply not knowing what's going to happen can feel completely overwhelming.

But today, we also want to check in on the person standing beside them.

The parent worrying about how the appointment will go. The parent apologising because their child might cry, shout or refuse to sit. The parent who feels embarrassed or wonders if they're doing something wrong.

I know that parent, because I used to be her.

When my son was a toddler, he had terrible anxiety around haircuts. I remember the stress of those appointments and how difficult something so seemingly simple could become.

Those experiences are a big part of why Little Herberts exists today and why creating a place where children AND their parents feel understood has always mattered so much to me.

So, to those parents: we see you too. 💛

If you bring your child to Little Herberts, you don't need to apologise to us.

We've seen the tears. We've had children refuse to come through the door. We've cut hair while they play, while they wander around the shop and, yes, we've even cut hair outside before now!

We'll meet your child where they're at and work with you both to make the experience as comfortable as we can. There is no judgement here.

Sometimes the biggest win isn't a perfect haircut. It's walking through the door. Letting us make one snip. Or simply feeling a little safer than last time.

So today, we're checking in on our little clients AND their grown-ups.

You don't have to have it all together when you walk through our door.

With decades of experience, Vanessa is a true professional and incredibly talented at what she does. She works with amazing speed and confidence, yet every cut and style is completed with exceptional care and attention to detail.

Vanessa is especially wonderful with children who feel anxious or unsure about haircuts. Her warmth, confidence and natural ability to connect with people help nervous children quickly feel relaxed and comfortable.

Even in the relatively short time she has been with Little Herberts, Vanessa has already built a wonderfully loyal following of families who simply won’t see anyone else.

Meet Emanuele ✨

Emanuele is one of the most positive and uplifting people you could meet, and he brings that energy into the salon every single day.

Having grown up in Italy with hairdressing parents, he has been surrounded by the industry his whole life and is incredibly skilled with both children’s and adult hair.

What really sets him apart is his calm and patient nature. Emanuele is especially wonderful with children who feel anxious or unsure, taking the time to help them feel comfortable and relaxed.

He has built a loyal following of clients who simply won’t see anyone else, and we feel so lucky to have him as part of the Little Herberts team.

💛 A Small Update to Our Pricing

From 1 July 2026, our service prices will increase by 3.5%.

This isn't a decision we've made lightly. Like many small businesses, we've seen increases in rent, utilities, insurance, and staff wages over the past 18 months.

Our team is at the heart of everything we do, and we're committed to retaining and attracting experienced children's hairdressers who provide the patience, care, and expertise your families deserve.

While many of our costs have increased by more than this, we've worked hard to keep our price increase as low as possible and have limited it to 3.5%.

Thank you for supporting our small family business and for trusting us with your little ones. We truly appreciate every visit, every recommendation, and every family who walks through our doors.

🫧 THE HAIRWASH 💆‍♀️💙

Let's be honest... for most adults, the hairwash is the best part of a salon visit. 😌

And for plenty of kids, it's no different!

Our Hairwash Experience is a little extra touch of salon magic that many children absolutely love. We start with two shampoos to get the hair squeaky clean, followed by conditioner and a mini head massage before their cut and style. Bliss! ✨

That said, it's definitely not for everyone.

Some children love the idea of lying back, relaxing and being pampered. Others take one look at the basin and run for the hills! 😂

Over the years, we've found that most children under the age of 3 aren't quite ready for the experience. Lying back in the basin can feel a little strange when you're tiny, and that's completely okay. We always follow your child's lead and never force a hairwash if they're not comfortable.

For our boys, we sometimes do the wash after the haircut instead. Not only does it feel amazing, but it helps rinse away all those little itchy hairs that have a habit of sticking around after a cut. Win-win! 🙌
