Peptides! What are they and why are they a fundamental ingredient of the Nutrimetics platinum range!
The skin is predominantly made up of one particular protein, 'collagen'. The collagen protein structure is what gives the skin its composition; its texture, strength, density, firmness, elasticity. So as you age and your collagen starts to break down you start to see the effects of this lack of college which we know to be the signs of ageing. The skin starts to lose its firmness and volume and you start to see the effects of this as sagging skin and fine lins and wrinkles become apparent.
Your collagen naturally decreases as you age in addition to the exposure to environment factors such as sunlight and air pollution that also break it down. From around the age of 30 your body's ability to produce collagen slows down by around 1% each year ongoing.
The science behind applying topical peptides to your skin is that when collagen breaks down it releases amino acids and it is this abundance of the end product of collagen breakdown (amino acids) that chemically stimulates or signals to your cells that it needs to make more collagen. Peptides effectively trick your body into naturally reincreasing its collagen production levels.
Peptides are chains of amino acids and amino acids are the buidling blocks of proteins and life! Amino acids join together in chains to form peptides which in turn join together with other peptides (chains of amino acids) to form a protein.
There are four different groups of peptides; signalling peptides, carrier peptides, neurotransmitter inhibitor peptides and enzyme inhibitor modulating peptides.
Signalling Peptides - signal your cells to do something eg skin cells to make more collagen
Carrier Peptides - transport active ingredients like copper and zinc minerals. Copper is a well studied trace mineral that exists in the skin and helps with wound healing, collagen production, & helps your antioxidants to work better (eg. malachiite n the new IRYNA rose antioxidant elixir). Zinc is abundant in the Paltinum DNA Cellular Age Repair Creme and acts to increase firmness and elasticity and thus support the cell structure and overall skin structure.
Neurotransmitter inhibitor Peptides - block release of chemicals that cause muscle contractions (doesn’t stimulate skin cell activity just physically stops the fascia contraction) eg. Botox
Enzyme inhibitor modulating peptides - helps to slow down the ageing process by inhibiting enzymnes that break down that dermal matrix.
The platinum range has a lot of carefully selected active ingredients that are amazing in their own right but for the purposes of this topic the platinum range features a patent pending Tripeptide complex, hexapeptide-10, aswell as a zinc complex (carrier-peptide).

Yesterday on my Instagram page I thought I’d get in on and review my Clarifying Clay Treatment Mask....
This masque by is a 2 in 1 dual actual clay mask as not only does it magnetically draw out impurities with the clay formulation but it also physically exfoliates the skin with the addition of black rice extract (physical exfoliant). The black rice extract is what gives it its bumpy texture and it actually feels amazing to exfoliate the mask off your face with after use.
The mask feels quite thick but spreads easily and the cucumber and green tea creates a refreshing cooling effect on the skin.
It is a rapidly acting mask and works within 5-10 minutes. The mask turns from black to grey as your skin is detoxified.
The first time I used the mask my skin was slightly red for a few mins after which I put down to the natural volcanic clay as I had had a similar effect when I had made my own homemade mask using volcanic clay previously. I have not had the same effect since the initial use a few months ago so have continued to use it without any discomfort or further redness.
The mask is effective as a clarifying treatment as my skin is visibly smoother, pores are minimised and my complexion is noticeably brighter after use.
It also features raspberry fruit extract as a key ingredient which hydrates and tones the skin. ✌🏼😍
