Every day, we cover around 19 million kilometers.

The Earth revolves around the Sun in an orbit. Due to this revolution, we cover approximately 2.5 million kilometers (25 lakh kilometers) every day.
Even though this speed is very high, we don't feel it because it's a constant motion and everything around us is moving at the same speed. It's much like being inside a fast-moving train—even though the train is moving, everything inside appears stationary.

The Elevator: An Extraordinary Technological Innovation
The elevator, or lift, is a technology that has brought comfort to people's daily lives and significantly contributed to the construction of high-rise buildings. The earliest origins of the elevator can be traced back to Ancient Greece, where pulleys and winches were used for lifting goods.
In the 17th century, the "flying chair" emerged, an primitive or early version of the modern elevator.
It was essentially like a regular chair that was moved up and down using ropes, pulleys, and winches (rotating devices).
However, it was in the 19th century that elevators gained widespread use for lifting loads with steam engines.
Thanks to the safety mechanism invented by Elisha Otis, the transportation of people became much safer. In 1880, German engineer Werner von Siemens invented the first electric elevator, which laid the foundation for the development of modern elevators.

Special Fungus Survives on Plastic: A New Ray of Hope for Waste Pollution
German scientists have discovered a unique type of fungus in Lake Stechlin that can survive solely by consuming specific plastics. Most surprisingly, this fungus doesn't require any additional nutrients to digest the plastic.
Scientists have stated that this fungus thrives on common plastics, particularly polyurethane. However, they face some difficulty in digesting hard plastics.
Scientists believe that the widespread presence of plastic in aquatic environments has led these fungi to adapt in this manner.
These fungi not only grow on some synthetic polymers but can also produce organic matter.
Currently, only about 9% of plastic worldwide is recycled. Scientists have long been searching for plastic-degrading organisms to control this massive amount of plastic waste. Over 400 species of fungi and bacteria capable of consuming or destroying plastic have already been discovered. Scientists are hopeful that the discovery of this special fungus could offer a natural solution for plastic pollution and waste management.
