According to WLOX, 18 year old Nolan Xavier Wells went missing after a Fourth of July outing with friends on Horn Island, a barrier island off the Mississippi Gulf Coast near Ocean Springs. Wells, a former Ocean Springs High School football standout who currently plays wide receiver for Southwest Mississippi Community College, was last seen around 3 p.m. on July 4 wearing blue swim trunks and sunglasses with no shirt. His mother, Christine Wonsley, said he had at some point become separated from his phone, which stayed with the family on the mainland, and it remained unclear whether he ever made it back to land that day.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, led by Sheriff John Ledbetter, has been coordinating an extensive search effort with help from the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources, the Gulf Islands National Seashore, the U.S. Coast Guard and the United Cajun Navy. A command post was set up at the Lake Mars Boat Launch in Ocean Springs, and search crews had been concentrating on the eastern end of the island near Wells’ last known location, though officials said they could not confirm whether he was still on Horn Island at all. Investigators have repeatedly asked anyone who was with Wells that day, or who may have given him a ride off the island, to come forward, saying even small details could be critical.
As of the most recent update, a body has reportedly been found on Horn Island during the search. Officials have not yet confirmed the identity of the person found, so nothing is certain at this stage. The Southwest Mississippi Community College football program has publicly asked the community to keep Wells and his family in prayer as the investigation continues to unfold.

It’s taken me almost a week to articulate what I want to exactly say. I typically voice opinions behind closed doors but I decided it’s time to use the voice god gave me. During times like this is when we the citizens need to prevail a voice for justice. PEOPLE open your mind and heart to educating yourself on the black community. Stop resisting and saying “ All lives matter”. Truly if you’re not black or brown we really don’t understand what it’s like to be oppressed. If you know someone close to you that doesn’t understand take the patience to help them understand. Sometimes it takes time to chip away, I know from experience. Also for the indivuals that just complain about the riots and say nothing else on the bigger picture. You need to put yourself in they’re shoes. If you just post black squares to be cool and not educate yourself STOP this isn’t about following a trend. Start over and be sincere about you’re actions. I’m truly passionate and sincere about this movement. I will continue this week to post information on the movement on my stories. Remember, be compassionate and open you’re minds to new information on the movement. Sometimes you gotta just sit back and listen. We gotta keep pressin for what’s right. I love you all please stay safe during these crazy times and let’s continue to fight for our black brothers and sisters. Protect one another and continue to have eachothers back. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ @ New York, New York
