Susmita Rai studied at Tendruk Central School and now she works in a travel agent. She began singing as a child. She took second place in a singing competition when she was in Mindruling Primary School. She couldn't sing in high school because she was too preoccupied with her studies.
She recorded her first song, Charaai Tira Hariyali, a patriotic song, after finishing class XII. She also has Manau Hai Yo, a Dashain festive dedication, and Dhanyabad Maharaj, her third song.
