In Chinese medicine, the Fall season is governed by the Metal element and the Lung system in the physical aspect. It is the perfect time to start moving inward, slowing down, and preserving one's energy.

When we keep our Lungs strong and balanced, external pathogens cannot easily invade the body, making us more immune to seasonal colds and flu. Here are a few reminders as we transition into Fall to help you stay healthy and energized:

1. Dress appropriately for the weather. Wrap a scarf around your neck, cover your back and abdomen, and wear socks to protect your skin and regulate body temperature.
2. Start going to bed earlier. Notice how the days are becoming shorter and try to live in harmony with your circadian rhythms.
3. Include more cooked and warm meals in your diet. Soups and stews are excellent choices, and don't forget to incorporate root vegetables and seasonal fruits like apples and pears (baking them can enhance their benefits).
4. Hydration is crucial. The Lungs are susceptible to extreme dryness, so ensure you drink an adequate amount of room temperature or warm water, along with herbal teas. Don't neglect hydrating your skin with oils or creams.
5. Embrace the natural cycle of letting go. Observe how leaves fall from trees to preserve energy until spring. Similarly, consider letting go of unnecessary and unwanted possessions or stresses in your life.
6. Prevention is key. Consider booking an acupuncture appointment to boost your immunity and energy during this transitional period.
These adjustments can help you align with the energy of the Fall season and maintain your well-being.

The reason for a comprehensive initial assessment is that cosmetic acupuncture doesn’t work only with the skin. A holistic approach is emphasized as inner imbalances will contribute to our outer appearance.

Skin performs many essential functions:

- It is the biggest organ in the body
- It controls body temperature
- It protects us from UV lights or external pathogens and infections
- It acts as a sensory organ
- It prevents loss of moisture
- It is an essential organ for excretion of the waste/ toxins from the body

For us to work on the cosmetic side of things, we need to make sure that all of the skin’s functions are working properly. Skin, like any other organ, is linked with the rest of the body, so we can’t just focus on it without working on other organs if we aim for long-term improvements.

.PRESENCE. I have noticed that most of my patients have difficulty remembering what they ate before the appointment and that made me think about other regular daily things that go unnoticed with the speed of life that we try to keep up with.

🧐You may think that these small things happening daily do not matter, but in reality, all of them add up to the whole picture of well-being.

❔If you don’t remember what you had for lunch, you were not present during the meal preparation or actual eating. You skipped all the smells, textures, and tastes of the food you ingested. How will you know if that food provided you with energy and proper nutrition? How will you know which food is good for you or which causes you problems? Will you be able to differentiate true desires if you skip the part of being present in your body?

❇️A journey to health requires conscious being in the moment. It is a chance to get to know yourself better and to learn more about what is good for you and what does not serve you well. It is a decision followed by continuous actions to hear yourself.

❕So, right now, close your eyes, take a deep breath, and start exploring yourself-

⛰insights from nature⛰
✨Two weeks ago I went on a challenging hike. I had all these thoughts like “what I am doing here”, “I can’t go any further”, and “it is too hard”.
But then I stopped and breathed for a couple of minutes and continued my journey to the top of the mountain.
🏔And at the top I realized a few things:
1️⃣The healing process is similar to my ascent. It is challenging, sometimes lengthy, it requires discipline; there are times when you want to stop, BUT
2️⃣The view on the top is worth all your efforts. Same as a new feeling inside your body, when you are healthy and function at your highest potential.
3️⃣We cannot value something until we walk through a PATH to achieve it. Climbing a mountain is a path, healing is a path, and life is a path. Every moment, challenging or pleasing, is equally important.
👉 So, if you think you can’t do any more steps, stop and breathe, and remember - you can do it and it will worth it!
